I visited the Kyogen Lounge for the first time in a year. The laughter is always stable, and I believe it's a skill that comes from a traditional performing art passed down through the ages. After watching it again after a year, I felt that the performers have scaled up even more, which encouraged me to keep pushing myself (though that might be an exaggeration). Also, the light-hearted talks among the performers after the show were entertaining, and their camaraderie really came through, making me feel warm inside. As a place where you can casually enjoy high-quality traditional performing arts and an extraordinary atmosphere, the Kyogen Lounge is a very precious existence, and I hope it continues for a long time to come.

1年ぶりに狂言ラウンジにお邪魔しました。いつ見ても安定の笑い、時代を超えて受け継がれる伝統芸能のなせる技だと思います。1年ぶりに観させていただき、狂言方のみなさまがさらにスケールアップしており、自分もまだまだ頑張ろうと勇気づけられたりもしました。（大袈裟ですが）。また、演目終了後の、演者さん達のほのぼのトークが面白く、仲良しな感じが伝わってきて気持ちがほっこりしました。質の高い伝統芸能と非日常空間を気軽に楽しめる場として、狂言ラウンジはとても貴重な存在、今後も末永く続いてほしいと思います。

It was an very interesting experience.The class was well paced, we did shuriken throwing, sword fighting and blow gun practice, also we were able to see several hand-crafted weapons made by the leader. I highly recommend this experience for all.

The ladies at the place put a lot of effort in dressing you up. They make you look like the locals. It was so funny when foreigners were asking me to take pictures with them in shrines. I enjoyed this experience and recommend it to everyone. The price is unbeatable and the service is excellent.

Everyone want to have a real Japanese experience, not something put on for tourists. This is definitely that.
Easy enough to get there if you follow the instructions, and have an app.
There was a regular class on and we three beginners were in the hands of a friendly instructor. He spoke virtually no English, but it didn't matter at all. We just had to copy him. Very attentive and kept an eye on us, correcting our mistakes. At the end of an hour and a half we showed the regulars what we had learnt and they applauded politely.
An hour and a half is plenty of time. This is a very energetic activity. And enormous fun. If my local gym offered it, I'd sign up immediately

I took my 2 children (10 and 12 yr. old), my mother (74), and my husband to the class, everybody enjoyed immensely. One of the high lights on our trip! I also enjoyed getting a bit out of Tokyo center and the class is located very conveniently close to the train station. All in all, a great experience!! Highly recommended!

I found the geisha experience really good especially the interactive part (the games) which was fun. Also there was the oldest geisha in Tokyo playing the musical instrument there (94 years old) which was an extra bonus. But I think it's an experience for women, men might find it boring especially the musical and dancing part :)

We had a great karate lesson that mixed several martial arts in a very well organized manner.
Sensei Jun showed us techniques, Kata and we got to try different styles, always supervised by Sensei. The other students that were in the class were very supportive patient when sharing their knowledge, which made the experience even more enjoyable.
After class we all shared time together and to know the rest of the class a bit better.
Overall a great experience that left me wishing I'd stay in Tokyo a bit longer just to continue training with Sensei Jun.

The rickshaw driver let us choose our favorite course and was cheerful while entertaining my 4-year-old child who was riding with us. It was a pleasant experience to leisurely explore the downtown area in a comfortable rickshaw while listening to recommendations for shops and interesting facts about Asakusa. The children we passed all looked enviously at us, and I felt it was great to have been able to let my child experience this at least once. However, I think it was also a good decision to choose a shorter course, as children can get bored along the way (it can be dangerous if they start to fool around on the rickshaw...). I personally would have liked to ride a bit longer.

After the ride, we received seasonal stickers (it's autumn now) and discount vouchers for our next visit that can be used at branches across the country, including Kyoto, which makes me want to ride throughout the seasons. They also made sure we had a proper bathroom break before the ride, and I was especially happy that we weren't rushed.

担当の俥夫さんは好きなコースを選ばせてくれましたし、同乗した４歳の子供の相手も笑顔でしてくれました。オススメのお店や、浅草の豆知識などを聞きながら、乗り心地の良い人力車で下町をぶらり、良い気分でした。すれ違う子供たちはみんな羨ましそうに見てました、やはり一度は乗せてあげられて良かったと思いました。ただ、途中で飽きてしまうので、短いコースにしたのも正解だったと思います。（車の上でふざけ始めると危ないですから･･･）私自身はもう少し乗っていたです。
乗車後季節のシール（今は秋）と京都など全国の支店で利用できる次回優待券もいただいたので、四季を通して乗りたくなりますね。乗る前にしっかりとトイレタイムもとってくれましたし、何より急かされなかったのが嬉しかったです。

My friends from abroad and their fiancé came to Japan, and since they had just gotten engaged, I thought it would be a nice memory to gift them this plan. The staff at the store spoke English, so there was no need for interpretation each time, and the location was convenient, being close to Senso-ji Temple. Both of them were able to wear a kimono for the first time, and they said it was a wonderful experience and a great memory. I believe it would also be a good memory for Japanese people, but this time I felt I was able to provide a wonderful hospitality, and I'm glad I chose this option.

We wanted to tour the Nihombashi shrines in kimonos : the welcome and fitting was perfect, the lady was very soft and polite and used a translator to communicate if necessary.
There was a large choice of kimonos/obis/bags/hair ornaments and shoes all in perfect condition. Even the August temperature couldn't lower our enthusiasm !
I completely recommand the experience ! We received compliments from natives on the street and shot beautiful pictures.

My 13 year old granddaughter wanted to experience wearing a kimono. Birei created a beautiful kimono for her to wear. She enjoyed walking around the Asakusa area in her kimono. I would highly recommend Birei for this experience. Birei also provided lesson on origami which was a lot of fun.

This was a wonderful experience. The venue was very easy to find. We were warmly welcomed and shown to our seats. The cold tea was very refreshing. The geisha performance was very well executed and I loved the live music. The games were really fun and the geisha made everyone feel at ease. Make sure you wear or bring socks since you will have to remove your shoes when you arrive.

Takua San was a funny, cute, nice young man who taught me taiko. I was the only beginner in an advanced class, so he gave me my own personal lesson. I spoke a little Japanese, so we did the class in Japanese. It was mostly following patterns and rhythms, so the language barrier wasn't a problem. I had so much fun!

First time in Asakusa 初めての浅草

It was my first time going to Asakusa, and since I was traveling alone, I was unsure of what to do, so I decided to ask for help at this shop. The staff were very friendly, and their kimono dressing skills were excellent. I wore a kimono that I usually don't wear and went to Asakusa with the photographer. I had requested a photo shoot as an option, and I thought it would just be taking pictures, but they also provided very detailed sightseeing guidance, which was really helpful. The photo shoot was professional, and I was surprised by how much attention they paid to my gaze and poses. I am filled with gratitude for the staff who made this a wonderfully memorable time. I would like to use their services again if I have the opportunity. Thank you very much.

浅草へ行くのは初めてで、一人旅だったのでどうしようかと考え、こちらのお店へお願いする事に。スタッフさんはとても感じ良いし、着付けの手際も良かったです。普段は着ない着物を着て、カメラマンさんと一緒に浅草へ。オプションでお願いしていた写真撮影も、写真を撮るだけだと思っていたら、とっても丁寧に観光案内までして下さって本当に助かりました。写真撮影も本格的で、目線やポーズにまで気を遣っての撮影にびっくりしました。大変思い出に残る素敵な時間にして下さったスタッフの方々に感謝でいっぱいです。また機会があったら利用したいと思っております。ありがとうございました。

Amazing Sumo Morning Practice

This was by far one of the coolest experiences we had during our three week trip to Japan. Our amazing tour guide (wish I could remember how to spell his name), met us in the lobby of our hotel then took us by train to the sumo stable. Before getting there he gave a us a helpful rundown about sumo wrestling and what to expect. At the practice we sat front row, close enough to touch the wrestler's. Seeing how strong and big they're was impressive. We also got to see just how hard they work. The only downside was sitting cross-legged on a thin mat for an hour and a half, which was a bit uncomfortable. I had to keep shifting my position.This may not be a good tour choice for someone who has knee or back problems. Because we were visiting during Golden Week, the main stadium building was open and we got to see that and the Sumo Museum as well. Just to give you an idea of how wonderful our guide was, after our sumo tour he took us via train to Tokyo Dome and helped us buy tickets for that days baseball game. He totally went out of his way to help us and did it all with a smile. What a world class tour guide and overall experience.

A super fun introduction to Sumie Ink painting!

The whole class was a blast! We learned about the origins of the painting, different techniques, and other aspects of Japanese culture.

The instructor, Yuta, was a very knowledgable, funny man, and a fantastic teacher! Eager to share said knowledge, and make the class as fun as possible.

The class itself, was super chill, and relaxing, as sumie should be. The gallery is full of Yuta's father's paintings, and helps create a calm, and beautiful environment to paint in!

If you're in Tokyo, then defiantly give this class a try! It' so much fun. The gallery is in a great area too, perfect for book lovers.

The Studio location was easy to find using details provided.
From the moment I arrived I was welcome, the class and lesson was prepared.

The teacher was knowledgeable in the history of Sumi’e; his English was excellent and he engaged my interest, the process was explained well and he gauged well my ability.

I left the lesson pleased with what I had learnt and excited to continue learning more and experimenting with Sumie.

I would definitely recommend this class as a must do cultural experience:

Value for money, honestly I would happily have paid more, the ability and experience of the teacher was excellent.
