The bus goes almost to the door. currently road works are making the bus routes all a little different so that does need to be noted. The ceremony it self was amazing. The lady that held the ceremony is a master of her craft and has an exquisite eye for detail. I would totally recommend. We booked the group Tea Ceremony as it was cheaper we only had one other person join our group of three.

Elegant Tea Ceremony at Warakuan Teahouse in Tokyo
Interesting and Informative in Comfortable Sized Japanese Formal Setting
投稿者: Coville's, 2017/08/27My son and I enjoyed the Formal Instruction by a Certified Tea Ceremony Expert and his wife speaking in Japanese and their older daughter translating for us. We were greeted at their gate, led to their front business door and switched from our street shoes to their special sandals and directed into an informal Japanese meeting room with a tatami mat and small floor table where we put on their special one-toed white socks and then their sandals. We then went over several sheets of their English/Japanese explanations of each of the steps of the tea ceremony explaining words that are spoken and responses that are given. There is a lot of symbolism and purpose for each movement throughout the ceremony; specific movement and placement of the handheld fans, preparation with tea scoop and whipping utensils, and finally the making of the teas themselves. The ancient tea bowls used are passed down in the family through generations. The Tea Master picks a theme for each ceremony and chooses three items to depict that theme in a special section of the room (rooms can vary in size and roof height--commonly low ceilings required scooting into the room on your knees on the tatami mats and scooting around to the themed wall) and then you scoot to your tea position lifting yourself with the flat part of your fisted hand and then sitting with your lower legs under you bottom. The tea is brewed over a small pot of special wood in the corner of the room. When completed we exited and reviewed the ceremony back in the community room we started in and they answered our questions as best as they could with their daughter's translation. It was a very personal experience.

Wonderful private ceremony
投稿者: Nicole, 2017/04/17Great experience, would highly recommend. Person was very patient with our questions, and let our girls make their own tea when they wanted to try. Only drawback is it is a little hard to find. Go to the Higashi-Ginza station, and exit A3. Turn right, walk past the theater, and then find the elevators BEFORE the coffee shop on the corner. They are not very obvious. It is on the same block as the Kabuki-za tower, but not actually in the tower. Well worth the effort to find the place.

投稿者: Roxie, 2017/03/25This was a wonderful experience. From the moment we arrived at the tea house to the moment we left, every detail was delightful. The woman who does the ceremony (I can't remember her name :( ) was very polite and dressed in a kimono. She greeted us at the entrance and then showed us a short and very educational video about Matcha (tea) and the history and proper etiquette of a tea ceremony. We entered into the tea house after washing our hands in a small garden set on the balcony and began the tea ceremony. We were served delicious traditional sweets that were chosen in accordance with the season and watched as the tea master performed the tea ceremony. It was an incredibly calming and pleasant experience. After, we were invited to make our own cup of tea, which we did, but it was not as tasty as when the master did it! We could tell that she knew what she was doing and had been doing this for a very long time. She spoke good english and told us that she had been a tea ceremony master for 30 years. Her mother was a tea ceremony teacher for 50 years! We did the private tea ceremony for my husband and I and it was well worth the few extra dollars we paid. It lasted for about 30 minutes, but I think we might have drank the tea faster than we were supposed to lol! We were allowed to take as many pictures as we wanted during the ceremony, but we were too caught in the beauty of the experience to take any until afterwards.
I would absolutely recommend this activity to anyone thinking about doing it in the Tokyo area. From beginning to end, I couldn't have asked for a better experience. We even bought some of the Matcha from the master before we left, which was nice that she had it for sale. She also had other various necessities (cups, wisps, other serving things) for sale.

お茶を習っていたので、西大寺の大茶盛りを体験したいと思いますがなかなか機会がなく、昨年お寺だけでもと訪れました。
今回「奈良うまし冬めぐり」のお話を頂き、娘と参加させて頂きました。僧侶の奈良の歴史、由緒ある西大寺、秘仏愛染明王の分かりやすいお話を拝聴し、また大茶盛りの体験ができて有意義で楽しいひと時でした。友人の計らいで娘を同行しましたが意外と感動していて嬉しく思いました。

楽しかった。
投稿者: mao, 2017/01/31西大寺は駅をいつも通るだけで、この機会にと初めて行かせていただきました。ご住職のお話は、とてもわかりやすく、平城京での繁栄から衰退、それから再興と長い歴史の中で今の西大寺があることがよくわかりました。御朱印をいただくのを待っている時も、なぜ平安遷都が起きたなどの歴史について教えていただきました。もう一つのイベントである大茶盛は、想像通り大きなお茶碗で、飲む加減が難しかったのですが、自然と隣の方が手伝ってくれたり、和やかな雰囲気で楽しかったです。皆具も大きい！（大きさがわかりづらい写真ですみません）

非常に楽しい空間でした
投稿者: LONELY☆, 2017/01/15担当していただいた講師の方も、非常に雰囲気良く、裏千家の茶道を詳しく知れた。様々な質問にも細かに答えていただき、非常に楽しい時間だった。正月期間でもあった為、内装や用いられる茶器なども普段より華やかな物(先生談)であり、特別感があってよかった。
色々楽しかった点はありますが、雰囲気良く茶道体験ができたことが最も良かった点です。
寒い中、ご来店いただき、誠にありがとうございました。お正月の茶室の雰囲気を楽しんでいただけたようで、大変嬉しく思います。
季節によって茶道具や床の間のしつらえを変え、四季を感じていただければと思っております。

She was friendly and was very thorough when going through the history of the house and some of the meanings behind the tea ceremony. We had a great time despite the other couple we were doing the experience with being sour the whole time.

I Recommend This Experience!

I'd always had something of an interest in experiencing the tea ceremony, so this was really great! From the historical tea ceremony etiquette to the many types of tools, I learned from the instructor how to properly enjoy the tea ceremony. I also had some delicious tea and sweets.
The classroom had a very calm atmosphere and even though it was close to Kinkakuji, it was quiet and I had a relaxing time there. It's a great memory from my Kyoto trip!
The instructor was so kind and answered my questions carefully. If I have the chance, I'd like to make tea using my new knowledge and remembering the important elements of the tea ceremony.
We definitely chose the right option with this tea ceremony! Thank you for such a valuable experience!

前日の予約で不安でしたので予約確認のお電話をさせていただきましたが、和楽庵のご主人が優しくご対応下さいました。当日も駅までもお迎えに来ていただき、和楽庵でも丁寧にお薄茶の体験させていただいたようです。
このような本格的な茶道の体験は、東京ではまだなかなかないので、ベルトラから見つけて和楽庵に伺えてよかったです。ありがとうございました。

The Most Authentic Tea Ceremony Experience

You don't experience the feeling of host and guest that is the original purpose of "the way of tea"---a framework for communication and meditation. Of course, as a guest without knowledge of the tea ceremony you can only be a spectator not a true guest and participant.
Mat-Cha-Doh does an excellent job of teaching you to be more than a spectator of the ceremony. With an interpreter and instruction you are a participant in what is more than a ceremony---a meeting of host and guest within the framework taught by the Urasenke School of Tea. And surrounded by an authentic tea house with wood from the great temples of Nara, and centuries old tea ware, this is truly a once in a lifetime experience!!

煎茶の魅力発見

海外在住の50代。今回は里帰りの際にお友達を誘って「和カフェ体験」に参加いたしました。
外国で生活していると日本の文化や食生活などについて、よく質問される機会があります。しかしながら時に答えに戸惑うことが多々あり自分の勉強不足を改めて実感いたします。
お店にたどり着くまでに少し迷いましたが、ドアを開けるとスタッフの方々が丁寧に出迎えてくださり気持ちがリラックス。室内のインテリアや内装もところどころこだわりのある雰囲気で素敵でした。
今回はお茶に関しての説明はもちろん、諸作法、美しい振る舞うための心構えなどいろいろとお話しを聞かせていただきました。
いつもお茶を飲んでいるサイズより少し小さめな茶器でのお手前。おままごとをしているような感覚がありましたが、なんともその一口一口に味わいを感じることが出来、新しい魅力を発見できました。

前からなんとなく興味があった茶道体験でしたが、大満足でした！
茶道の歴史からお作法、お道具の種類に至るまで、茶道の楽しみ方を丁寧に教えてもらうことができ、お茶もお菓子もとても美味しく頂くことができました。
教室の雰囲気も落ち着いていて、金閣寺のすぐ近くにもかかわらず、とても静かで穏やかな時間を過ごすことができ、京都旅行の良い思い出になりました！
先生もとても優しく、質問にも丁寧に答えてくださいました。
機会があればまた茶道の心得「和敬清寂」を思い出しながら、お茶を点ててみたいと思います。
私たちはオプションのお茶会体験をつけましたが、正解でした！貴重な体験をありがとうございました！

great performance

Reisan was dressed with a beautiful kimono and make us enjoy the pleasure of this traditional performance. She also answered to all our doubts without esitate. The house a minute walking from the kinkakuji so it is really comfortable to get there. The first floor of the house is well decorated with objects of the Japanese tradition. Recommended.

Amazing tea ceremony experience
投稿者: Emma, 2016/01/30It was our first tea ceremony and we didn't know what we could expect. We were so pleasantly surprised! The mood was awesome. It was very impressive to see how a tea ceremony is run by someone really knowledgeable. The tea master explained very well about the tea ceremony rituals, and she's also friendly. We loved that we only had to focus on the beauty of such a ceremony, from the sounds to the movements. Also, two Japanese sweets are given! You can ask any question you want, which feel great as well. Now we can make our own powdered tea, and follows the peaceful way of tea thinking! Thank you very much to propose such a lifetime experience.
I'm sorry to write bank late. I'm glad you liked the atmosphere of my tea room. It was nice to meet you!

投稿者: Catherine, 2016/01/10Myself, my husband and my son (aged 12) booked in for this experience and I am so glad we did. While the groups are limited to 5 we were really lucky and were the only ones at that session. This made it an extra special experience. Our hostess was immaculately dressed and had absolutely impeccable manners. Her English was excellent, and after the ceremony she patiently and graciously answered all our questions. Our hostess was very knowledgable about the history of tea in japan, and the different types of tea, and has studied at one of the major 'tea schools' in Japan. We sampled a light tea- which is used for many occasions. The thick tea as it was explained to us is used for more formal ceremonies. The best part was we had the opportunity to make the tea ourselves. Delicious. Don't miss the opportunity to be part of a tea ceremony, it is something that my family will always remember.

From the second we walked into the house- which is a traditional old Kyoto style wooden house- we were transported to a different era. Our hostess was very knowledgable and particular in her technique having studied at one of the tea schools in Japan. She explained all the steps in the ceremony in excellent English and was happy to take questions. One of the highlights after observing the ceremony, was then being invited to participate and make your own green tea, being guided through each step by our immaculately dressed hostess. The groups are limited to 5, however it was just us that day, so it was very a special experience for us as a family. Our hostess was also able to tell about the history of tea in Japan, and also the development of the tea ceremony as we see it today and explain where the cups were made, and why they need to be turned as you consume the tea. すごくいい経験でした！
投稿者: Suika, 2015/12/13これまで日本の茶道に関することを何度も聞きましたが、今回は人生の初めての茶道体験でした！教室はすごく高級感があり、位置も日本橋でとても探しやすかった！1時間ぐらい授業時間の中、素晴らしい日本茶道を鑑賞できて、茶道の「一期一会」という精神も理解してきた。すごくいい経験でした！

Tea Ceremony in Nihonbashi
The BEST way to experience Japanese culture
投稿者: Suika, 2015/11/29Thanks VELTRA I now had a splendid tea ceremony experience in Tokyo. The place was easy to reach, and very very high class. I speak some Japanese so the tea ceremony was held in Japanese, but the teacher can speak very good English. She was really friendly and tried to make the lesson easier to understand. They provided chairs for customers who cannot sit for long time too, which was really sweet. I recommend this tea ceremony to anyone who would like to learn more about Japanese culture!

本格お茶体験 格式高い武家茶道でお茶をいただく ＜目黒区／駒場東大前駅から徒歩4分＞
一時帰国中、最良の経験でした

私も友人も茶道の「サ」の字も知らない男の子二人（１３，１４歳）同伴でしたが、堅苦しさのない明るい雰囲気にしてくださり、私自身も茶道の魅力を再発見できました。 美しい茶碗や茶室、全てを堪能させてくださり、ただ緑茶と茶菓子を飲むだけ、食べるだけの喫茶店とは正反対の経験を楽しめます。足袋を履き、茶室に入るところから、お花や掛け軸を愛でたり、お茶の文化全てをを堪能させていただきました。最初に手順の説明を受けるので、高校生のときに数時間の茶道体験以来、全てを忘れてしまった私でも楽しめました。興味のないティーンエイジャーの集中力を考えて一番最短の薄茶を申し込みましたが、実際は１時間半近くを割いていただき、彼らも行くまではどうやってサボろうかと嫌がっていましたが、実際はとても楽しんでくれました。 渋谷から５分でこんなにくつろげるオアシスがあるというのは驚きです。 本当にありがとうございました。 値段が高いとのレヴューも見受けられますが、これだけの体験でこのお値段ではもったいないくらいの貴重な体験ができますよ。
体験談ありがとうございます。薄茶のコースだと、30分と記載してありますが、今まで見えたお客様は、1時間以上場合によっては2時間かかってしまいます。寄付き（といっても、和室の居間ですが）で簡単な説明をしてから露地を通ってつくばいを使い入席、点前で2～30分、その後、道具の拝見まで行なうとどうしても、それくらいはかかってしまいます。後の予定が詰まってしまっていてご迷惑をかけたお客様もいて、最近は予約の前にその旨お断りするようにしています。でも、静かな心休まるお茶を楽しんでいただくためには、どうしても手を抜くわけにはいかないと思い、そのパターンを続けています。さし上げた法被（ハッピ）喜んでいただけたようでよかったです。興味なく嫌がっていたとのことですが、とても良くご覧になっていただきました。1時間を越えてお茶を見た経験は、きっと心のどこかに残っていくことと存じます。より多くのイギリスの方にお茶の時間を味わっていただけるよう、ぜひお友達にもご紹介ください。精一杯、和敬静寂の席になるよう励みます。先日、フランスでテロがありました。憎しみの連鎖を断ち、お互いを尊重できる世界にするためには、それぞれの国の文化を認め、敬うことが大切だと思います。日本の文化を、破壊・消滅することなく、伝えていきたいと念じるばかりです。またのお越しを、お待ちしております。

陶芸作家の指導で陶芸体験 日本文化を気軽に体験しよう！[安加比古窯/蒲郡市]
楽しい一時でした！
投稿者: ドラミちゃん, 2015/10/08陶芸っていろいろなところにあるけれど、やったことがなく、今回蒲郡に遊びにいく際にちょっとやってみよう！と思って予約しました。やっているうちに湯飲みではなく小鉢のようなお皿になりました。底の厚さなど、大事なポイントだけ教えていただき、後は手の赴くまま、やりだすとはまってしまいどこでキリをつけるか難しかったですが、初めてで適当にやってみてもちゃんとお皿の形になるからすごい。色も選べて、先生が形を整えて、色の付く薬を塗って、焼いてくれるそうです。私はただ適当に粘土で形を作っただけで、この後の先生の工程が大変そう！でもひとつ何十万もする焼き物を作っているプロの陶芸家が仕上げてくれるなんて、なんだかとっても嬉しいです。焼き上がりが楽しみっ☆
先生はとっても明るい方で、お話のとっても楽しい方でした。写真もたくさん撮っていただいて、子供の面倒も見ていただいて、すみません。。
終わった後は素敵なお茶室でお抹茶とお菓子をご馳走になってきました。
子供はヘビや猫を作ってひとしきり遊び、やっぱりコップを作ると言って毎朝飲むヨーグルトを飲む用のコップを作りました。
海だけじゃない蒲郡の超おすすめスポットです。
作品が届いたので追伸です。
すっごい！流石！のプロの陶芸家先生が手を加えてくれているだけあって、ちゃんと使えるし、ホントにキレイな素敵な作品が届きました！
感動☆釉薬の細かいひびや、ボツボツした感じが最高、家族みんなで見入っています。
青も美しい～

【西陣くらしの美術館】 登録有形文化財の町家見学＜上京区＞by西陣 冨田屋
伝統弁当、とても美味しいです！
投稿者: ぷぅさん, 2015/09/14先日1人で参加しました。町家の案内、歴史や日本の伝統行事の説明など、とても深く知ることができました。外国人観光客の方々が、お茶室体験もされていて、とても興味深く、私も急きょ抹茶をおねがいしたら、快く提供して頂きました。伝統弁当が本当に見た目も味も美しく、白味噌のお味噌汁にはまりました。ありがとうございました！
