This time, we were blessed with good weather and were able to fully enjoy Jomon Sugi and Shiratani Unsuikyo. On the first day at Jomon Sugi, we walked over 20 kilometers nonstop. There were many times when I felt like giving up, but looking around, I was able to enjoy the beautiful scenery, the pleasant air, and the delicious water, which made the experience less tiring. This time, we had a slightly larger group of eight people, including the guide, which fostered a sense of camaraderie and made it enjoyable to participate.

On the second day at Shiratani Unsuikyo, we started feeling the fatigue from the first day, but more than anything, I was able to walk while being healed by the scenery. It was a walk along the streams, feeling the love for Yakushima and the charm of old Japan from our guide.

Overall, it was a wonderful place just as I had imagined. I would like to visit again in a different season, and also on a drizzly day.

今回は天候に恵まれ、縄文杉と白谷雲水峡を堪能できました。1日目の縄文杉では20km以上をひたすらに歩きました。何度も心が折れましたが、周りを見れば素敵な風景や気持ちの良い空気や美味しいお水を頂いたりとそこまで疲労感なく過ごせました。今回はガイド含め8人とやや多めなパーティーでしたが、仲間意識も高まり楽しく参加できました。
2日目の白谷雲水峡では、1日目の疲れを感じながらのスタートでしたが、何よりも風景に癒されながら歩けました。ガイドさんから屋久島愛、古き良き日本を感じながらの沢歩きでした。
全体を通しても、思った通りの素敵な場所でした。また季節を変えて、あとシトシト雨の日にも行きたいと思いました。

The journey to Jomon Sugi was long, but I enjoyed walking while the guide provided explanations. If time allows on the way back, they adjust the pace to match the participants. Along the way, you can fully feel the vitality of nature. There is a beauty that cannot be expressed in photos.

Day 2: Shiratani Unsuikyo
We had a later departure than the previous day, allowing us time to enjoy breakfast at the hotel. I felt a bit tired from the previous day's activities. On the way back, we stopped by a supermarket and were dropped off at our hotel in Naha. I really appreciated not having to worry about my child being fussy and not having to drive myself while feeling tired.

The long and challenging trolley path with similar scenery was tough, but the knowledgeable guide's stories were interesting, which kept me engaged. Thanks to the guidance, I learned a lot about not only Jomon Sugi but also other attractions of Yakushima.

I researched appropriate hiking attire and wore clothes that were easy to move in and breathable. Since I would be sweating and needed stamina, I was glad I did my research beforehand. The weather changed frequently, with rain coming and going, so the rented hiking boots, raincoat, and backpack with a cover were very helpful.

After arriving in Yakushima, both the person delivering the rental items and the guide provided detailed explanations over the phone about the schedule and what to bring, which allowed me to spend two days in Yakushima with peace of mind.

縄文杉までたどり着けるか不安でしたが、休憩を挟んだり、色々な説明をしたりして進んでくださり、写真を沢山撮ってくださったりして、楽しく歩ききることができました。似たような景色が続くトロッコ道がとても長く大変でしたが、知識豊富なガイドさんの話が面白く、飽きずに歩くことができました。案内していただいたことで、縄文杉だけで無く、その他の屋久島の魅力をたくさん知ることができたので良かったです。
服装は登山の服装を調べ、動きやすく通気性の良い服装で行きました。汗をかくのと、体力が必要なので、調べてから行って良かったです。天気がよく変わって雨も降ったり止んだりしていたので、レンタルした登山靴やレインコート、カバー付きのリュックが役に立ちました。
屋久島に着いてから、レンタル品を届けてくださる方もガイドの方も、日時や持ち物などの詳細を電話で丁寧に説明してくださったので、2日間安心して屋久島で過ごすことができました。

I apologize for the inconvenience caused by my late arrival. I was worried about being late and forgot which tourist spots I requested, and I’m sorry for the trouble I caused the driver. I appreciate that the time allocation for the places I wanted to visit was good. However, I was disappointed that there wasn't much explanation, and compared to other regional sightseeing taxis, I didn't feel very satisfied. Since it was the children's first time in Okinawa, I hoped to hear stories about the museums we visited from a local perspective.

The weather was wonderful, and it was a very comfortable taxi tour. The course was adjusted considering lunchtime, and there was a good degree of flexibility in the time allocation, which gave a nice "Customer First" feeling. At the crater, we could see a little hot spring, and at Kusasenri, I rode a horse (for the first time in 50 years!), and the view from Daikanbo was an unexpectedly breathtaking panorama that moved me!

We made a reservation for a group of four in our 20s. None of us had any serious mountain climbing or trekking experience, but thanks to our guide, we had a very enjoyable and comfortable two days of climbing!

As beginners, we were greatly helped by having a guide who managed the pace and introduced the routes. The trekking routes themselves were easy to understand, but information like "It's tough for the next xx minutes, but it will be flat after that" and "The next restroom is xx minutes ahead" was extremely helpful. I definitely recommend participating in the tour for first-timers.

Additionally, our guide kept the atmosphere lively with quizzes and games during the tour, making the challenging trails enjoyable to walk. This helped us thoroughly explore places we might have overlooked if we had visited without prior knowledge. We were also able to visit an observation deck with a panoramic view of Shirakawa-go, where we took some great photos.

Since Shirakawa-go is a well-known tourist spot, the dining places were very crowded during lunchtime. I have had a very good impression of Beltora in the past, having relied on them for overseas trips and bus tours. So, I requested their service again this time, but I can't help feeling that it was a bit of a failure.

This time, I chartered a private sightseeing taxi for six hours in Okinawa. Since I arrived in Okinawa right away, I contacted them in advance with my flight number and had them pick me up at the airport. In the end, it took an extra hour, but that was within expectations.

I think the driver was a nice person, but despite being called a sightseeing taxi, they didn't share any local stories, food recommendations, or information about the sea. They seemed not very talkative, and their voice was muffled by a mask, so they hardly spoke at all.

観光タクシーに聞きながら周るのを期待していたのが、ちょっとショックに変わりました。

I appreciated the constant updates on the road conditions and lunch spots to ensure we had the most fulfilling time possible at the distant accommodation. Additionally, since the driver was from Okinawa, he shared some delicious local lunch spots and photo opportunities, which made the experience very enjoyable.
