This was our first time in Yakushima, and it was my elementary school daughter's first trekking experience as well. Since we were a bit anxious about going alone, my husband arranged for a private guide.

The trekking was so much fun thanks to our guide, Sachi, who explained about the Yakusugi trees and plants in detail using a whiteboard! Additionally, she took frequent breaks to match my younger daughter's pace, allowing us to climb at our own speed. Along the way, we were thrilled to see deer, which made the kids very happy.

The final ascent was tough, but the view when we reached Taiko Rock was amazing, and we all exclaimed, "Wow!" The sense of accomplishment and the scenery from the top is something I will never forget. I believe we were able to reach Taiko Rock because of Sachi's guidance. If it had just been our family, we might have given up along the way (laughs).

Trekking with a guide versus without is completely different, so I highly recommend this tour.

Even now, our family often reminisces about the trekking experience. Thanks to Sachi, we've fallen in love with Yakushima, and we want to go back as a family again. Thank you, Sachi!

今回、初めての屋久島、そして小学生の娘は初めてのトレッキングでした。家族だけでは不安ということで主人が貸し切りガイドさんを頼んでくれました。

トレッキングはガイドのさちさんが屋久杉や植物のこと等を詳しくホワイトボードを使って説明してくださったので、とーーっても楽しく登れました！！
また、下の娘のペースに合わせ、こまめに休憩を取ってくださったので自分達のペースで登れました。途中、鹿を見れて子供達も大喜びでした。

最後の登りはきつかったですが、太鼓岩に着いた時の眺めは素晴らしく、思わずみんな「わぁ〜〜‼️」と声が出ました。登り切った時の達成感、景色は一生忘れないと思います。
今回、太鼓岩まで行けたのはガイドのさちさんがいてくれたからだと思っています。家族だけだったら途中で諦めてたかもです（笑）
ガイドさん「ありorなし」でのトレッキングは全く違うので、このツアーは本当にオススメです。

今でも家族でトレッキングの思い出話をよくしています。さちさんのおかげで屋久島が大好きになったので、また家族で行きたいと思っています。

Only three family members participated on New Year's Day. その点については、前日の電話での確認事項のときに、話しておいた方がいいと思います。

I went on the Jomon Sugi tour followed by the Shiratani Unsuikyo tour on consecutive days, and I must say, the Shiratani Unsuikyo tour was incredibly enjoyable. The breathtaking view from Taiko Rock left me speechless.

Many people, like myself, who visit Jomon Sugi the day before tend to opt for the half-day course to the mossy forest due to fatigue, but it's only an additional 40 minutes to reach Taiko Rock, so I highly recommend going. The muscle pain and fatigue aren't bothersome while climbing, and adding 40 minutes doesn't make much of a difference. Plus, you get to enjoy a stunning view and have a leisurely lunch, making it quite worthwhile.

As expected from a gorge, there is plenty of water and moss, creating a very mystical and refreshing atmosphere. It feels so surreal that you can't help but wonder when the Kodama or mountain deities might appear.

連日、縄文杉ツアー→白谷雲水峡ツアーと行きましたが、結果からして白谷雲水峡ツアーが楽しすぎました。中でも太鼓岩からの絶景には言葉を失います。
私のように前日に縄文杉に行くと、疲労から白谷雲水峡ツアーを苔むす森までの半日コースにされる方が多いようですが、太鼓岩までは+40分ほどなので、絶対に行った方がいいです。筋肉痛や疲労は登っていれば気にならず40分増やしたところで大して変わらないですし、絶景を一望できるうえ、昼食もゆっくり摂れるので色々とお得です🙆‍♀️
水峡なだけに水や苔が多く、とても幻想的でリフレッシュできます。いつこだまや山神様が出てくるのだろう…と思ってしまうほど、非現実的な空間を楽しめます。

Since it was a trekking tour, I expected it to be like hiking, but in reality, it's quite difficult in light clothing and consumes a lot of energy. For those who don't have much experience and can't imagine what equipment is necessary, I recommend renting everything.

途中何回か休憩もありますし、ウィルソン株などで写真も撮っていただけるので、しっかり記録も残すことができますし、疲れも何とかなります。
なかなか行く機会がない方には是非行くことをお勧めします。

The bus trip from Naha to the northernmost point was made easy thanks to the bus, even on unfamiliar roads. Although I regret the unfortunate wind and rain, I was glad to have visited Cape Hedo, hiked at Daichi Forest Park, and even met the Okinawa Rail, all with plenty of time to spare. I was able to visit the long-awaited Jomon Sugi, and I felt that its grandeur and the timelessness of the place are truly valuable experiences that can only be appreciated in person! I was a bit worried about the rain, but it held off, and since it was the off-season, it was almost like having the place to myself. I was able to take my time enjoying sights like the Wilson stump's heart and take plenty of photos! Winter can be a bit cold, but personally, I found it manageable and would recommend it.

On the way back, I used the local bus, which allowed me to stop at the airport without any additional charges and relax my whole body (especially my legs) at the onsen (Manten). I definitely want to come back for a mental and physical refresh!

念願の縄文杉を訪れることができ、その迫力と悠久の時は、直接見た方が分かる価値だと感じました！
少し雨が心配でしたが何とか持ち、またオフシーズンで、贅沢ながらほぼ貸し切り状態だったこともあり、ウイルソン株のハート他、マイペースで見るだけでなく、写真も思う存分撮ることが出来ました！冬は少し寒いですが、個人的にはそれほどでもなくお勧めと思いました。
また帰りは、路線バスを活用したからか、急遽追加料金無しで、空港下車で温泉(まんてん)で全身(特に足)の疲れを癒すことが出来ました。また心身のリフレッシュに来たいと思います！

The first day of the tour to Jomon Sugi was incredibly fun! However, on the second day, unfortunately, it rained at Shiratani Unsuikyo. During our drive there, the guide mentioned that reaching Taiko Rock might not be possible today. I understood that due to the typhoon, we had to take a detour and follow an irregular course.

In conclusion, we couldn't go to Taiko Rock or the mossy forest, and we ended up just circling around the entrance of Shiratani Unsuikyo for about an hour and a half. Of course, the guide provided explanations throughout.

After that, we were taken to a lunch spot that the guide recommended, and we disbanded around 11 AM. We had planned for a tour from 3:30 PM to 4 PM, considering the time until our flight home, and we had brought our own lunch. We booked this tour specifically looking for one that included transportation.

In the end, after disbanding, we had lunch at the restaurant the guide introduced us to, spent time looking at souvenirs until the bus departure, and then returned to the hotel by bus. The guide was encouraging to the individuals and groups we passed at Shiratani Unsuikyo, wishing them to be careful.

It seemed like many others were able to go further in, which made me a bit skeptical. Since there were others in our group who had to retire partway through the Jomon Sugi tour, I wondered if that was taken into consideration.

Personally, this was my second time visiting Jomon Sugi, and it was my first time at Shiratani Unsuikyo, so I chose this tour with great anticipation for Shiratani Unsuikyo and traveled to Yakushima. I expected rain in Yakushima, but if the rain was truly the reason we couldn't go, were there really no alternative plans until around 4 PM when we disbanded? I paid for a full day's worth of the tour, and it turned out to be a very disappointing day, leaving me feeling sad.

However, I am grateful for the enjoyable and thorough explanations provided. I would like to try again in Yakushima.

しかし、2日目。
白谷雲水峡はあいにくの雨でした。
向かっている最中にも車の中ででガイドの方から、太鼓岩までは今日は無理かも？と言うお話しがありました。台風の影響で迂回となりイレギュラーなコースでの対応になっている事も理解しておりました。
結論からいうと、太鼓岩もですが苔むす森も行けず、白谷雲水峡入口近辺をくるりと1時間半ほど周って終了でした。勿論ご丁寧に都度ガイドはして頂けましたが。
その後、ランチのお店をご紹介頂いてそこまで送って頂き、11時台には解散でした。
こちらとしては、15時半〜16時までのツアーで丸1日帰る飛行機までの時間で予定をしておりましたし、お弁当も持参で行っております。送迎付きを探してこのツアーも予約もしました。
結局は解散後、ガイドの方にご紹介して頂いたお店で昼食を食べ、バスの時間までお土産物を見て時間を潰し、バスでホテルまで戻りました。
ガイドの方は、白谷雲水峡ですれ違った個人の方か団体の方かはわかりませんが、その方々には、気をつけていってらっしゃい！！とお声を掛けておられました。
その他の方も沢山の方が奥まで行かれているように見えました。
ん？それなら自分達も途中までなら行けるのでは？と少し不信感をいだきました。
1日目の縄文杉ツアーで、途中でリタイアした方も同じグループで一緒でしたので、その方の足の具合を考慮されたのか？？と、勝手な想像で頭がいっぱいになりました。
個人的には縄文杉は2度目で、白谷雲水峡は今回が初めてでしたので、どちらかといえば白谷雲水峡をとても楽しみにこのツアーを選び、屋久島に行きました。
屋久島での雨は想定内でしたし、もし本当に雨が理由で行けなかったのなら、解散の16時くらいまでの他の代案はなかったのでしょうか？
1日分の代金も支払っていますし、すごく残念な1日になり、悲しい気持ちになりました。

ただ、楽しくご丁寧にご説明頂いた事には感謝しております。
また屋久島再チャレンジしたいと思います。

I had researched what I needed in advance, but I received a confirmation call on the day I arrived in Yakushima. It was a group reservation, but since no one else participated, we had the entire tour to ourselves! To be honest, I wasn't very confident in my physical strength, so I was grateful for that. A bus came to pick us up in front of the hotel at 4:20, and we moved to the trailhead with other tour participants. We had our first breakfast at the trailhead. After using the restroom, we set off! We walked along the trolley path in complete darkness. Tsugimura-san kept us entertained with quizzes about Princess Mononoke and Yakushima, making the trekking enjoyable. Once we got on the mountain path, we were too focused on not falling or tripping to do any more quizzes, and it took us about five hours to reach the summit! We finally met the Jomon Sugi!! Even while climbing, we received advice like "be careful here" and "walk on this side," which allowed us, as almost beginners in mountain climbing, to follow along with peace of mind. On the second day, the weather was bad in the morning, so we delayed our departure. I appreciated the various alternative suggestions based on the weather. We couldn't make it to Taiko Rock due to time constraints, but we were very satisfied with the small stream that often appears on posters! It was fun to experience the world of Princess Mononoke. We participated as a family of four. It was a lucky day with no rain and very nice weather. The difficult parts were tough, but it was okay since we took breaks. We are grateful to the guide for kindly serving us miso soup and tea during lunch.

This tour will definitely be a core memory that will never be forgotten. Taki San speaks very good English and is well aware and informed of the history of the Eastern Hokkaido region aside from being super friendly and hospitable. He made sure that I enjoyed every second of it. I am happy that I wont be worried anymore if I ever come back to Eastern Hokkaido as Peacan Kikaku is the answer.
