I highly recommend this kintsugi experience to anyone looking to try their hand at this traditional Japanese art! The hosts are kind and welcoming, and work hard to make you feel comfortable. They're also incredible talented at kintsugi, and are excellent at showing beginners how to get started. Despite that, they know an important part of the experience is doing it yourself, and they're quick to pass over the tools and encourage you to give it a try, while remaining on hand to provide any needed help.

At first, I felt anxious about how it would turn out, but after some practice, I managed to complete it. The teacher was also very encouraging, and as I worked, I became absorbed in the task and had a lot of fun. The glass photography under the final lighting was great. I want to challenge myself again.

最初は難しく感じてどうなることかと不安でしたが、練習も経てなんとか完成しました。
先生も誉め上手で、やっているうちに作業に没頭して楽しかったです。
最後のライトアップ下でのグラス撮影が良かったです。
また挑戦したいです。

Despite the unfortunate light rain, my spouse and I headed to the "Marumatsu Kiln" in Tanba Tachikui for a pottery wheel experience. Living in Kobe, we had previously visited Tachikui several times to see the climbing kilns and purchase pottery, but this was our first attempt at the wheel experience.

The pottery wheel workshop, facing the prefectural road in Shita Tachikui, is a large kiln with well-maintained equipment and tools, creating a bright working environment that left a good impression. The owner provided detailed explanations of the work procedures and important points to note during the wheel work, and the clear technical guidance was very helpful.

The owner is also familiar with a nearby golf course, which made for a fun pottery session filled with golf discussions. We enjoyed discussing color options, and we are looking forward to seeing the finished pieces after firing.

Additionally, on our way back, we were introduced to the Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Ceramic Art, and we were able to enjoy wonderful exhibits with the admission tickets we received. It's only about a five-minute drive away, and I highly recommend stopping by to learn about history while viewing valuable pottery exhibits from the Muromachi period onward.

However, since it was Tuesday, the surrounding restaurants (like soba shops) were closed, which was the only disappointing aspect of the day.

生憎の小雨模様の中、丹波立杭にある「まるまつ窯」のろくろ体験に夫婦で出向きました。神戸在住の為、予てより立杭焼の登り窯見学や陶器類購入に過去に何度か出かけてましたが、今回　ろくろ体験に初挑戦しました。
下立杭の県道に面したろくろ体験作業場は大きな窯元で、設備、道具類も整備され明るい作業環境で良い印象を受けました。
ご主人に丁寧な作業手順やろくろ作業時の注意事項など具体的に説明受けし、分かり易い技術指導はとても助かりました。
ご主人は近くのゴルフ場も良くご存知で、ゴルフ談義しながらの楽しいろくろ作業ともなりました。
彩色の相談も楽しく進められて、後日の焼き上がりが楽しみです。

又、帰りに兵庫県の陶芸美術館を紹介され、頂いた入場券で素晴らしい展示品も楽しむことが出来ました。車で５分位の場所であり、是非　立ち寄りされたら、室町時代以降の貴重な焼物展示品を見ながら歴史勉強になると思います。

尚、当日が火曜でので、周りの飲食店（蕎麦屋など）は休業日で、この点だけが残念でした。

I took my 16 year old and we had such a great time. Yoshiko and Yoshiichiro welcomed us with such warmth I felt like we were walking into their home. They taught us clearly and easily how to do the kintsugi and really made it interesting. They explained about the mindset behind it. Yoshiko even kindly worked on broken mask that I brought, helping me fix it! They were so eager and excited to introduce us to the world of kintsugi!

It was my first experience with Edo Kiriko. The 90 minutes flew by as I was taught with great care. When choosing a glass from many options, I appreciated learning not only about the differences between the glasses but also about the ease of working with them. Even basic tasks like drawing straight lines and evenly applying patterns were challenging for me, but every time I see the glass after my mistakes, it reminds me of the experience.

初めての江戸切子体験でした。
丁寧に教えていただき、あっという間の90分間でした。
たくさんのグラスの中から体験するグラスを選ぶ際も、グラスの違いだけではなく、作業のしやすさなども教えていただけて、とても良かったです。
まっすぐに線を引く、均等に模様を入れるという基本的なことさえも思うようにできませんでしたが、失敗のあともグラスを見るたびに体験を思い出すきっかけになります。

We visited a food sample experience as a family. When we asked what she wanted to do during Golden Week, my second-grade daughter made the request. She chose ramen. When she saw the samples on the table, she was amazed at how real they looked and was excited at the thought of making it herself, which left a strong impression on me.

With careful explanations provided, she made her own soy sauce ramen without any help from us parents. Being someone who already enjoys crafting, it was her first time softening wax and vinyl with hot water, and she seemed to have a lot of fun.

The finished creations are now displayed on her desk alongside our curry rice and parfait as part of her collection. Thank you for a fun and memorable experience!

家族で伺った食品サンプル体験。ゴールデンウィークにやりたいことを聞いた時にリクエストしたのが小学2年生の娘でした。
彼女が選んだのはラーメン。机に置かれた見本を目にして、本物みたい・・・と驚き、自分がそれを作ると考えてみるからにワクワクしていたのが印象的でした。
丁寧な説明をいただきながら、親の手助けは一切なく、自分でつくった醤油ラーメン。元々工作好きな彼女もロウやビニールをお湯で柔らかくして、というような工程は初めてで、とても楽しんだ様子でした。
仕上がった作品は僕らのカレーライスとパフェと共に娘の机にコレクションとして並べられています。
楽しい＆思い出に残る体験をありがとうございました！

I experienced this with my family during Golden Week. I made curry rice. I had made it once in elementary school, but I hadn't cooked it myself since then, and I don't cook very often. I had a very enjoyable time participating, holding an image of it being a mix between crafting and cooking.

The process involved shaping materials like wax and vinyl using hot water. The explanations, which included historical context, were very clear, and I genuinely enjoyed the hands-on experience in front of me. Following the instructions and receiving compliments on the spot boosted my confidence, and I was able to enjoy the experience all the way to the end.

As I shaped the softened wax while recalling the characteristics of the vegetables I had simmered, I found that the curry roux was more runny than I had expected, and it flowed into areas I hadn't imagined (they helped me adjust it at the end). Those moments remain a fun memory for me.

I highly recommend this as an activity to do with children in the city!

ゴールデンウィークに家族で体験してきました。
私がつくったのは、カレーライス。小学校の時にクラスで作ったことはあったけど、それ以来自分で作ったことはなく、料理もあまりやらない私です。
工作と料理の間、のようなイメージを持ってとても楽しみにして参加しました。
ロウとビニールの素材をお湯を使って形作っていく作業。歴史的なことも含めながら作業を解説してくれる内容はとてもわかりやすく、純粋に目の前にある工作体験を楽しめました。説明通りにやってみて、その場で褒めてもらえて調子に乗って、楽しい気持ちが膨らみ続けて最後まで体験できました。
お湯で柔らかくなったロウを煮込んだ野菜の特徴を思い出しながら手で形作っていくところ、カレーのルウが思っていたよりサラサラしていて、イメージしていたところ以外のところにも流れ込んでしまったところ（最後に仕上げで調整していただきました）、そんなところが今でも思い出す楽しい体験でした。
都内で子供とできるアクティビティとしておすすめです！

I was glad to have the opportunity to experience Edo Kiriko, which I had been interested in for a while! The explanations were thorough, and I was encouraged that it was okay to make a few mistakes, which made the experience enjoyable. In reality, it was quite challenging, and there were some parts that I was a bit disappointed with, leaving me with some regrets. However, the finished glass is really beautiful if I overlook the mistakes, and I've already started enjoying wine in it. It was an event that made me want to participate again and improve my skills next time!

丁寧な説明をしていただき、少し失敗しても大丈夫、と励まされて楽しく参加できました。実際には結構難しくて、少し残念な箇所もできてしまい、心残りもありました、、。でも完成したグラスは失敗部分に目を瞑ればとっても素敵で、早速ワインを入れて楽しんでいます。次はもっと上手に作りたいな〜、と再度参加したくなるイベントでした。

I repaired a broken mug. It was a gentle and enjoyable kintsugi experience. Since new lacquer is used, there is little smell, and the finished piece will be ready for use in two weeks, allowing me to enjoy coffee or tea. I would like to visit again. Thank you very much.

二つに割れてしまったマグカップの修繕をしました。やさしい雰囲気で楽しい金継ぎ体験になりました。新漆を使うので匂いも少なく、出来上がった器は2週間後に乾燥が終わりコーヒーやお茶も楽しめるとのこと。また伺いたいです。ありがとうございました。

I made a glass for individual use with three female friends who love alcohol. With just the right amount of pressure, we transformed dots into lines and then into patterns... I was a bit anxious about whether it would turn out well, but once we started working, it really flew by until my glass was completed.

For a first attempt, it turned out quite well. My glass, illuminated by the photo shoot light, has a truly unique presence.

The craftsman I met was very kind and cheerful from the first impression, which made me feel at ease during the experience. While looking at the works, I was able to hear about the history of silver and the profession. The task involved using a hammer to tap the handle onto a pure silver spoon. When I was stamping the letters, there were times when the points were misaligned, causing the letters to blur, making it a task that required quite a bit of skill. However, it was basically just a matter of tapping. I was surprised by the experience of inserting the spoon into ice to learn about silver's thermal conductivity. It was my first time touching pure silver, and I am still happy to have it now. I had a very valuable and enjoyable experience. I also heard various interesting stories. Thank you very much.

I brought my own pottery and had a wonderful experience. I'm completely satisfied with the repairs; I'm glad I did it. I think it would be great if the website allowed comments about bringing your own pottery during the application process, so I hope they consider this improvement. For some reason, the images I attached during the application were not confirmed by the other party.

However, I was told that anything can be fixed, and I'm happy that my precious pottery was repaired. While enjoying tea in a relaxed atmosphere, I received a man-to-man lecture, and the instructor carefully handled the parts that needed to be solidified with plaster. I experienced the process starting from the point of sanding. It took a full two and a half hours, but the instructor supported me with my clumsy parts and praised me in various ways, which kept me in a good mood to continue. We also enjoyed various conversations about pottery along the way. Just chatting would have been enjoyable enough.

The pottery in the photo was originally broken in half with a piece missing, but it has been completely restored. After drying for another two weeks, I will wash off the excess powder and it will be finished. I'm really looking forward to it. They also prepared containers for taking the pottery home, and since all the tools were provided, the experience was very satisfying compared to the ease of it. The aftercare is also thorough, so I'm already considering doing this again. I highly recommend this not only for the kintsugi experience but also for anyone who wants to repair their precious pottery.

器を持ち込んで体験しました。すっかり直って大満足、やってよかった｡申し込み時にサイトでは器の持ち込みをコメントできるといいと思います、改善を検討してください。申し込み時に添付した画像も何故か先方で確認できていませんでした。
でも、何でも直せるという事でした、大切な器が修理できて喜んでいます。和やかにお茶をしながらman-to-manでレクチャーを受け､欠けた部分を石膏で固めところまでは先生がしっかりとやってくださって、削るところから体験しました。2時間半たっぷりかかりましたが、不器用な部分は先生がフォロー､色々褒めてくださるので、良い気分で続けられます。途中色々な器に関する四方山話も愉しく｡お話だけでも良いぐらいです。写真の器、元は真っ二つに割れて一部欠けていましたがすっかり戻っています。あと2週間乾かしてから余計な粉を洗い流して、完成。待ち遠しい限りです。持ち帰り用に容器の準備もあり、道具は全て貸してくださるので、お手軽さに比べて満足度が高くて、充実した体験です。アフターフォローもしっかりしているので次もまたと考えているくらいです。金継ぎ体験だけでなく、大切な器を直したい人にもオススメです。

From start to finish, I received thorough guidance, and even as a beginner and someone clumsy, I was able to create the plate I had envisioned! I was very happy to have such a wonderful experience locally! I would love to come back and make more!

I had my first experience with Edo Kiriko. I struggled throughout, but thanks to the practice I was allowed to have and the careful instruction I received, I was able to express a beautiful Edo Kiriko pattern. Although it turned out to be far from the design I had envisioned, I ended up with a unique piece that I am very satisfied with. If I have the opportunity, I would love to try again—I really got hooked!

　初めて江戸切子体験をしました。終始苦戦しましたが、練習をさせていただくことができ、また丁寧に教えてくださったため、素敵な江戸切子の模様を表現できました。
　思い描いていたデザインとは程遠いものとなりましたが、逆に個性あふれる作品ができ、とても満足しています。
　もし機会があれば、再挑戦したいと考えるぐらい、ハマりました!

I was a bit worried that Edo Kiriko would be difficult, but the craftsman taught us carefully, so even beginners could enjoy it! I was very satisfied with the beautiful cup I made. I had the opportunity to experience Edo Kiriko with my two children. The kids didn't know much about Edo Kiriko and seemed to have low expectations. It was supposed to last an hour and a half, but once we started, they enjoyed it with serious expressions. The time flew by. After a year and a half of not being able to go anywhere due to COVID-19, spending an hour here was very fulfilling and created wonderful memories.

子供2人と一緒に江戸切子体験をさせて頂きました。子供達は、また、江戸切子を知らず、余り期待していなかったようです。１時間半もーといった具合でしたが、いざ！始まると、真剣な眼差しで楽しんでいました。時間もあっという間に過ぎてしまいました。コロナの中どこにも行けない1年半でしたが、ここでの１時間あったは、とても充実した時間を過ごすことが出来また、楽しい思い出となりなました。

I was guided in early, but it seemed like the staff was busy working. There was no greeting, and they remained silent the entire time. The young person who guided the experience was also working while providing instructions, which felt insincere. This is the lowest standard for customer service. If they are doing this to survive, they might be skilled workers, but they should think a bit more about their approach. If they can't do that, they should stop trying to make a quick buck with such experiences.

まず早めに案内されましたが、お店の方らしき方か作業されてました。
挨拶もなく、終始無言。
体験も若い方が教えてくれましたが、作業しながらと不誠実な対応。
接客業としては最低。生き残る為にやってるなら、職人かもしれないがもう少し考えるべき。
それが出来ないなら、こんな体験で小銭稼ぎを止めるべき。

I was very happy to receive such kind instruction; it was easy to understand, and I ended up with a lovely candle. I would like to learn again if I have the opportunity.

I made it for the first time. The teacher praised me a lot, and I was able to enjoy making it! Time flew by, and I was worried I wouldn't finish in an hour, but I managed to complete it somehow! I arrived about five minutes early and was able to choose the glasses and other items in advance, so I felt like I made it just in time (laughs). It's a great memory, so I recommend it! ♪

I didn't have as much time as I thought. I should have come up with more specific designs beforehand. However, it was a first-time experience, and my family had a great time together. When we got home, we quickly toasted together! It was a drink that tasted better than usual.

I had some points saved up, so I went to try the Edo Kiriko experience that I had been interested in for a while. There were many accounts saying it was difficult, so I was worried about whether I could do it well, and I decided to challenge myself with a clear glass that didn't require an additional fee. During practice, I found it difficult to align the center, and I thought I might not be able to make it beautifully. However, as I continued, I gradually started to grasp the techniques, and by the end, I gained a bit of confidence. The finished glass turned out to be quite satisfying, and I would like to challenge myself next time with a more difficult colored glass. I'm also grateful to the teacher who taught me patiently. You can also take photos!

ポイントが貯まっていたので、以前から気になっていた江戸切子体験に行ってきました。難しいという体験談が多かったので、上手くできるか心配で、追加料金のかからない無色のグラスで挑戦しました。練習も中心を合わせるのが難しく、やはり綺麗には出来ないかもしれないと思ったのですが、やっているうちに段々コツが掴めてきて、終わる頃には少し自信がついてきます。出来上がったグラスは満足いく出来栄えで、次は難易度の高い色付きのグラスで挑戦してみたいと思っています。丁寧に教えてくれた先生にも感謝です。写真も撮ってもらえますよ。

Although time was limited, they provided various heartfelt suggestions to help fulfill my wishes. The candle holder and whiskey glass seem very useful.

I never thought I could make cut glass myself, so I had a lot of fun feeling like a craftsman. The instructor was very thorough in teaching and even helped with adjustments, making it a memorable cup!

The instructor was a younger man. He spoke mechanically about the necessary things, and I didn't feel any desire to entertain the participants or help them create good works. His teaching style was bland and unkind, making it feel like I was just trying to figure things out on my own. Additionally, I wondered if the instructor lacked skills, as he didn't tailor his teaching to each individual and was just there.

講師の方は若めの男性でした。必要なことを機械的に話すだけで、体験者を楽しませようとかいい作品を作ってもらおうという気持ちは感じられませんでした。教え方も淡白で不親切なため、やり方がよくわからない中で作り上げた感じです。
また講師自身は技術がないのか？、一人一人に合わせて教えることもなく、ただいるだけでした。

I participated because I wanted to celebrate his birthday. Since I was there, I chose a colored glass that I liked; I picked one for 900 yen, and he chose one for 1600 yen. The more expensive glasses started at 300 yen, and there were also free options (colorless). There were many designs to reference, and even though I didn't prepare anything in advance, I felt at ease during the experience because the instructor kindly answered even the smallest questions. The finished piece is a bit crooked since I'm an amateur, but I have grown attached to it and it has become one of my favorites. I definitely want to participate again!

彼の誕生日記念にしたいと思い参加しました。
せっかくなので色付きの気に入ったグラスを選び、私は900円、かれは1600円のものを選びました。
お値段のかかるグラスは300円〜で、無料のもの(無色)もありました。
デザインも参考となるものが沢山あり、特に何も予習せず参加しましたが、先生に質問すると小さなことでも親切に答えてくださるので安心して体験できました(*^_^*)
出来上がった作品は、素人ですので線も歪ですが、愛着が湧いてお気に入りです。
また是非参加したいです！

You can create your own Edo Kiriko, a traditional craft! I was excited to participate.
On the day of the experience, there were six of us, including myself.
The instructor explained the cutting techniques and the machine in a clear and thorough manner.
First, we practiced with a practice glass. At first, I was a bit nervous, thinking that if I applied too much pressure or cut too much, it might break. However, as I got used to it, I became bolder in my cutting.
Then came the real thing! I drew the pattern I wanted to carve on the glass in the shape and color I chose, and started cutting. Before I knew it, I felt like a true craftsman.
I concentrated so hard that I wondered when was the last time I focused this much.
The finished glass became a one-of-a-kind piece of traditional craft.

伝統工芸である江戸切子を自ら作ることができる！　ワクワクして参加しました。
当日は私たちを含め６人で体験スタート。
削り方や機械の説明を分かりやすく丁寧に教えてくださりました。
まずは練習用のグラスで体験。あまり力を入れすぎたり削りすぎたりしたら割れてしまうのでは…と、最初はおっかなビックリでしたが、慣れてくると大胆に削ることができるようになりました。
そして本番！自分の選んだ形、色のグラスに削りたい柄を描き込み、削り始めました。いつの間にかすっかり職人気分になっていました。
こんなに集中したのは何年ぶりだろうかと感じるくらい全力で集中しました。
出来上がったグラスはオンリーワンの伝統工芸作品となりました。

I participated for the first time with my girlfriend. There were two other participants besides us, making a total of four people in the experience. Including the instructor, everyone was wearing masks.

On the table, there were examples of works displayed, and we chose the color and shape of our cups. The blue and red glass cups had an additional fee of about 1,000 to 2,000 yen. I wanted to choose a colored cup without the extra charge, but it seemed a bit expensive, and I was told that the difficulty of carving would increase slightly, so I opted for a transparent cup available at the basic fee this time.

There was a stain on the cup that couldn't be removed, but when I mentioned it to the instructor, they gave me a new cup. I noticed the stain after I started carving, but they offered to let me keep the stained cup as well, and we ended up making three cups together.

Carving neatly is quite a challenge, and the quality of the cups was clearly amateurish, but it was a good experience.

彼女と2人で初めて参加しました。
私たち以外の参加者が2人いらっしゃって計4人での体験でした。先生1人も含め、皆マスク着用してました。

机の上に作品例が並べてあり、コップの色や形などを選びます。
青や赤のガラスコップは追加料金が1-2千円ほどかかります。
追加料金がなければ色の付いているコップにしたかったですが、若干高く思えたのと、削る難易度が少し上がるということだったので、今回は基本料金で選べる透明なコップにしました。

コップにとれない汚れが付いていたのですが、先生に言ったら新しいコップをくれました。
削り始めてから汚れに気付いたのですが、汚れたコップもプレゼントします、と言っていただき、2人で3つのコップを作成しました。

綺麗に削るのは至難の業で、コップの出来栄えは明らかに素人のものでしたが、良い体験でした。

Amid the atmosphere of travel restrictions, I participated with the hope of creating some family memories. The classroom had measures in place for infection control, and since each person worked individually at their machines, I felt that we wouldn't be too close to each other.

It was my first experience with Edo Kiriko, and the teacher's explanations were clear and enjoyable, making the time fly by. While choosing the glass and selecting existing designs, I added a little twist to create something original, resulting in a truly one-of-a-kind Edo Kiriko glass.

I've already started using it at home as my personal glass. Every time I use it, memories come flooding back, and I enjoy the shared conversation about the Edo Kiriko experience.

旅行も自粛ムードが漂う中、せめて何か家族の思い出が作れたらという思いで参加しました。
教室は感染症対策が施されていましたし、一人一人機械に向かって作業をするので、受講者同士がそんなに密になることもないと思います。

初めての江戸切子体験でしたが、先生の説明もわかりやすく、楽しく、時間があっという間に過ぎました。グラス選び、既存のデザインを選びつつ少しアレンジしてオリジナリティーを出しているので、本当に世界でひとつの江戸切子グラスが完成しました。

早速家でマイグラスとして使っています。
グラスを使う度に思い出が巡り、江戸切子体験という共通の会話も楽しんでいます。

I have been interested in Edo Kiriko for a long time, and I finally got to experience it. The staff provided careful guidance, which made me feel at ease. The drinks I had in the glass I made myself tasted exceptionally good. ♬

ずっと前から興味があった江戸切子ですが、やっと体験できました。

I finally tried my hand at Edo Kiriko, which I had been interested in for a long time. I had planned to participate with a friend, but due to health reasons during this pandemic, they couldn't join me. I decided to go alone. The instructor was young and had a clean appearance. They explained everything calmly, and the two-hour class flew by. The glasses are an additional charge (ranging from 300 yen to several thousand yen). At first, I wasn't sure how much pressure to apply, and I ended up going outside the lines... but as I continued to carve, I started to get the hang of it. The lines that went too far out were properly corrected by the instructor, who quickly and beautifully fixed them. Impressive! It was like magic. I wonder how they did that? One important thing: I forgot my glasses, and since it was detailed work, they were essential. Please be careful, everyone. This Edo Kiriko, a traditional craft from the Edo period, allows us to experience the joy of focusing on one thing for two hours. I plan to cherish my creation moving forward. Overall, despite the pandemic, it was a lot of fun!

前々から興味があった江戸切子に初挑戦。２人で参加する予定が、このコロナ禍の折り、友人は体調が理由で不参加。一人でしたが、参加することにしました。先生は若くて、清潔感のある方。淡々と説明してくださり、２時間の講習はあっと言う間に過ぎました。グラスは別料金です。（３００円から数千円まで）最初は力の入れ具合がわからなかったり、線がはみ出してしまったり、、、ですが、刻んでいくうちにコツがわかってきました。あまりにもはみ出してしまった線は、先生がちゃんと修正してくれました。チャチャっと素早く綺麗に修復。流石！まるで魔法みたい。どういう風にやったんだろ〜？大切な事。眼鏡を忘れてしまい、細かい作業でしたので、必需品でした。皆さんも気をつけてください。江戸時代の伝統工芸を今に伝えるこの江戸切子。２時間の間、一つの事に集中することの楽しさをまた実感しました。自分の作品はこれからも大切に保持していこうと思っています。とにかく、このコロナ禍の折りではありましたが、楽しかった！です。
