I participated with my 85-year-old mother to create memories for Mother's Day. We chose designs based on various beautifully cut glass pieces. As expected, we couldn't cut as perfectly as the samples, and my elderly mother struggled a bit, but in the end, the staff helped us finish the pieces and even took photos to make them look great. The service was also very attentive.

当たり前ですが、お見本の様にはカット出来ず
高齢の母も苦戦してましたが最後にスタッフさんが整えて頂き、映える様に写真撮影もさせてくれます。接客も丁寧でした。

I participated with my daughter. The explanations were thorough, with demonstrations and practice, and the instruction was very careful. I was able to create a simple wisteria pattern quite well, so I got a bit carried away and tried the bellflower, which was difficult and I struggled. However, when I had trouble, I could ask for help, and in the end, they made adjustments for me. When I placed it on the black cloth under the light, I was amazed by its beauty. I had a lot of fun concentrating for two hours.

説明もお手本を見せながら、練習もあり、丁寧教えて頂きました。簡単な藤の花の模様が、けっこう上手くできたので、調子に乗って桔梗に挑戦したら、難しく苦戦しました。でも、困った時に聞きながら、最後は、お直しもしてくださり、ライトの当たった黒い布の上に置くと、素晴らしさに感激しました。2時間集中して楽しかったです。

Explanations were simple and clear. Helpers were polite. Results were satisfying.

Loved this workshop which was held in a very small group and super relaxed atmosphere and environment.
The technique was clearly explained and I came away feeling I had learned something that wetted my petite for more.
It's a perfect 'taster' session and you get to take an unusual souvenir home. Just loved it

This was the most calming and grounding experience, a total contradiction to a typical day in Tokyo. Yoshiko and Yoshiichiro welcome you into the small street facing studio with home made cake, local treats and freshly brewed tea. Occasionally there is the odd call out from their cat that makes the experience so homely and real that you know you are getting a legitimate immersion into a part of Japanese art and culture.

The class is hands on and Yoshiko makes sure you leave with all the tools you need to keep practicing after you leave the class. She also gives you insights into Japanese culture that are inaccessible to the average visitor.

If you are someone who likes to get under the skin of a city or country, and you like to get off the tourist track to truly start to get your foot into the door of what a culture is about, this is the class for you.

We had a magnificent time with our instructor for the food class! He was instructive, patient, and made the experience the best it could be. You can really tell he loves what he does, and teaching people about it. If we ever come back to Japan, we will definitely be taking another class.

I also want to note: these classes can be taken in English is need be. Our instructor apologized for his “bad English” - and then spoke perfect English the whole time. I was like “no- WE apologize for OUR bad Japanese >_<“

Great fun for all ages. I took my husband and his guy friend, and they loved it more than they thought. Just 10/10 experience.

My daughter and I had a great time making food samples. The guide was so nice and helpful.

The activity was super fun and interesting. I had a wonderful time and would recommend this activity to anyone!

The coach tried his best to tell me the background of plastic food samples, and gave clear instruction on each steps. Sufficient time for me to complete the project in 1 hour. Even he is not very fluent in English, he will use translation to explain. I had good time enjoying it!

I booked this experience for my boyfriend's birthday as he's a big fan of plastic food, so we wanted to learn how to make it and try it out for ourselves. If you're worried that this experience may only be fun for kids or families, we're both in our early 30s and had a really fun time of it!

The owner told us about the history of the craft while he taught us how to make our plastic fried rice, and it was really interesting to learn about!

They have a lot of fun trinkets and jewelry for sale as well that make amazing gifts for friends and family!

Would highly recommend this experience for anyone interested.

We had so much fun creating our little tart and parfait! They make adorable little souvenirs. The instructor was very patient, knowledgeable and friendly with a little help from Google translate. Would recommend it to anyone looking for a fun little activity to do that is uniquely Japanese, especially if you love food!

The instructor who was in charge was great at giving compliments and taught us with care, so even as a beginner, I was able to enjoy the experience. I'm also satisfied with the finished glass.

担当して頂いた先生が褒め上手で丁寧に教えて頂けたので、初心者でしたが楽しく体験する事が出来ました。
出来上がったグラスも満足です。

I had a great time during the workshop. Yoshiichiro and Yoshiko are really nice and made me feel welcomed. Kintsugi is really interesting to learn.

Great and unique experience making sample food. Booking online was straight-forward and easy as well :) Do note that to purchase additional in-store merchandise (sample food made by the store eg keychains) require cash, which we unfortunately did not bring. Otherwise, the course itself was engaging, straight-forward, and fun even for adults. Would definitely recommend!

It was more difficult than I expected.
However, I was able to create something that I am quite satisfied with!
If there were a glass-cutting class nearby, I would want to attend because I feel like I could get really into it.

I look forward to it again in the fall.

The instructor was also very kind in teaching me.

Great workshop! Easy skill to learn...but difficult to master Very safe activity, you don't have to worry about cutting yourself or using heavy machinery.

Looking for something to do other than visiting temples, sightseeing, eating, or shopping? Show off your creative talent (you really dont need any!) by making your own sample food. This is a great family activity geared to all ages and skill levels and you learn a bit about the history of sample food. Keep in mind that you are not making samples from scratch. Rather some items such as the noodles and toppings are pre-made and you're basically molding them and placing the items to create your final product. Our group created different items - sushi candle, fried rice, Ramen and pizza clock - and everyone was thrilled with our creations! What a great souvenir to take home. Staff was very friendly, kind, supportive, and more importantly, patient in helping all of us. Try it out for yourself!

We had a wonderful experience at this workshop. You immediately feel at home and enjoy learning both the history of this art as well as the hands on application. The pace of the class and setting are really wonderful. I love that this we have been given the foundations for this practice and can utilize this in our lives. Highly recommend.

I took my friend who came from abroad to create some memories in Japan. The staff were fluent in English, so even international guests could understand the explanations. They were a bit brusque, but they helped when needed. You really have to push a bit to get the desired results, otherwise, it can turn out a bit flimsy. There was a booth for photographing the completed works, and we had a lot of fun.

スタッフさんは英語も堪能で、海外からのお客様でも説明を理解できます。
ちょっとぶっきらぼうですが(笑) 適宜ヘルプしてくれます。
けっこう思いっきり押し付けないと、ひょろひょろした線になります。
完成した作品の撮影用のブースがあり、わいわい楽しめました。

I had a pen-making experience as a graduation gift for my sister. I chose the wood myself, carved it, polished it, and the finished product became a one-of-a-kind pen. I have a deep respect for my sister, so I am very happy to be able to give her this unique pen. (To be honest, I was tempted to keep it for myself.) I also learned a lot about wood and became aware of its charm. Not only did I work with wood, but I also had many wonderful experiences. Next time, I will come to make my own pen! Thank you very much.

姉への卒業祝いのためにペン作り体験をさせていただきました。自分で選んだ木を削り、磨き、出来上がったものは世界で一つだけのペンになりました。
姉には尊敬の気持ちが強いので、この唯一無二のペンをプレゼントできる事がとても嬉しいです。
(実は、自分のにしてしまおうかと心が揺らぎました)
また、木のことについて色々なことを教えていただき、木の魅力に気がついてしまいました。
木を加工するだけでなく、たくさんの良い経験ができました。

I received a warm welcome and the workshop was comfortable. My guide was kind and knowledgeable and happily helped me when I needed it.
I was pleased with my end product (the ramen bowl) and my guide packaged it very well in a secure box.
I would come back again to complete some of the other food options like the parfait.

I definitely recommend this activity. It doesn't take too long, isn't very messy and the end result looks great.

I signed up because my sister and her husband were coming to play in Tokyo. I thought it might be difficult since it was a three-day weekend, but luckily we were able to make a reservation for four people, and we all worked on it together. Everyone seemed to enjoy it while chatting and thinking about their favorite designs♪
There were a few mistakes, like misaligning the blade or doubling up, but we had a great time and I’m very satisfied with the experience (^^)

　姉夫婦が東京に遊びに来るということで申し込みました。３連休中だし難しいかなーと思っていましたが、運良く４人予約できて、みんなで取り組みました。各々好きなデザインを考えてワイワイ言いながらやって楽しんでもらえたようです♪
　刃を当てる部分がずれたり、二重になっちゃったりしてちょっと失敗しちゃったけど、楽しい時間を過ごせたし、大満足です(^^)

It was my first time participating, and I had a lot of fun and got really into it. There are samples available, but since you can design freely, I think it would be beneficial to decide in advance what kind of design you want. This way, you'll spend less time thinking about the design and more time on the actual work. It was a very valuable experience, and I would love to do it again.

初めての参加でしたがすごく楽しくて夢中になりました。
見本はありますが自由にデザインできるため、あらかじめ、どんなデザインにしたいかを決めてから行くとデザインを考える時間が短くなり、作業に時間を割けると思います。
とても貴重な体験でまたやりたいと思いました。

This will be one of my treasured memories from Japan. The Kuges share the essence of this tradition and craft so wonderfully. The little piece we worked on will bring much joy each time I use it.

It's such a beautiful and healing class! You're in a small place in the suburbs of Tokyo, surrounded by local folks going about their day - and you will learn the subtle art of Kintsugi while sharing stories of life. The owners could not be kinder and more generous and I appreciated so much how easy they made it to understand what to do. I recommend the class to everyone but make sure you are ready to join their world - not demand your own. You will be rewarded. Thank you!!!

We were given this Kintsugi Tryout class by our children as a Xmas present. And what a delightful and fun experience it was!
The tiny workshop, filled with examples of kintsugi to provide inspiration, was only just big enough for us both, two other more experienced Japanese students, and our two wonderful teachers Mr and Mrs Kuge. The latter is a force of nature who provided home made lemon cake, endless tea, written and spoken stories about kintsugi in English, and a shopping list to encourage us to pursue our new hobby. The combination with Mr Kuge's quiet expertise provided an atmosphere where we felt free to relax and be creative. We loved every minute of our class and can't wait to see what our tea cups look like after their 2 weeks drying out period.

While blown glass and sandblasting are common, it's rare to have the experience of cut glass, so I decided to participate since the price was reasonable.

The session I attended was nearly full. I didn't think much about the design beforehand, but there were plenty of sample works and patterns available, so I could come up with a design on the spot.

I could choose from various colors and shapes of glasses, but the basic fee only covered clear glasses. For colored ones, there was an additional charge of just under 1,000 yen, and for darker colored glasses, it was an extra charge of just under 1,800 yen. (I decided to go for a glass with a pattern that would show well for the additional 1,000 yen.)

After practicing several times, I was able to take on the real thing. The process went from designing the bottom → engraving → designing the sides → engraving. I was pleasantly surprised that I could carve deeper than I expected without breaking it!

Once the glass was finished, I was able to take photos at the booth, and it was placed in a box and handed to me in a paper bag. So, it's fine to come with empty hands or a small bag.

Since I visited in winter and the heating was on, it was warm, but I still felt dry and thirsty without talking. Some people went to buy drinks during the session, so it might be a good idea to bring a bottle of water or a thermos with a lid.

ガラスだと吹きガラスやサンドブラストはよくありますが、切子の体験ができるとの事で珍しい！とお値段も手頃なので参加してみました。

参加した回はほぼ満員でした。
特にデザインを考えないで行きましたが、作品見本や図案が沢山あるのでその場でデザインを考えられました。

いろんな色や形のグラスから選べましたが
基本料金で選べるのは透明のグラスのみ、色付きだと＋1000円弱、更に濃い色のグラスだと1800円弱プラスで掛かります。(せっかくなので模様が見える＋1000円弱のグラスにしました)

何回か練習した後に本番に挑めます。
底のデザイン→彫刻→側面のデザイン→彫刻といった流れ。
思ったより深く削っても割れなく大丈夫でした！

出来上がったグラスはブースで写真を撮らせてもらえて、箱に入れて紙袋に入れて渡してもらえます。なので手ぶらや小さい鞄で来ても大丈夫です。

行った時期が冬で暖房が効いてて暖かいのもあり
喋らなくとも乾燥して喉が渇きました。途中喉が乾いて買いに行く人もいたので、ペットボトルや水筒など蓋のついた飲み物を持参すると良いかもしれません。

The most important thing is being able to communicate in English, and the teacher delivered! Instructions were clear, and kept us engaged.

Some of the materials were ready to go, so do not expect the satisfaction of crafting something from scratch, but its difficulty is suitable for travellers.

You should also read the posters on the wall, and you could see some advice from previous players.

I'd rate the experience 10/10!
(Personally think fried rice is more enjoyable than ramen)

The host is super nice and we had fun!!! Our sundae parfait looks too real that we want to eat it.

Booking was a little bit tricky, it was tough to tell which options were available until checkout. That said, the activity of making a food sample itself was a lot of fun! We made bowls of ramen, and it was interesting to see the process and I am grateful that the instruction could be given in English. The staff were very friendly and helpful and I look forward to doing this again sometime.
