Unfortunately, due to a rare cold wave bringing heavy snowfall, the morning news advised people planning to visit Shirakawa-go to change their plans.
With some anxiety, I approached the reception counter, and was lightly told, "We're going." With mixed feelings, I boarded the bus.
The driver skillfully navigated the snowy roads, allowing me to relax and enjoy the scenery.
The passengers were mostly foreigners, and the guide provided information in both Japanese and fluent English. Having both languages doubled the experience, and the guide kept the conversation going. I thought it was impressive how they managed to engage everyone with a humorous storytelling style, showing great care for the guests.
On the way back, some people were delayed due to the heavy snow and missed the meeting time, so we arrived in Takayama a bit late, but we were able to catch the limited express to Gero as scheduled.
The snow-covered gassho-zukuri village was just as I had imagined. It was very cold, but I was able to experience the true winter atmosphere of the gassho-zukuri village, and the professional guidance from Nohi Bus made the experience even more enjoyable.
生憎、数年に一度の寒波で大雪となり、朝のニュースで白川郷に行く予定の人は予定を変更するようにと呼びかけていました。
不安を抱えながら受付カウンターへ行くと軽く「行きますよ」との事、複雑な気持ちでバスに乗り込みました。
運転手さんは雪道を危なげなくスルスルと運転するので安心して景色を楽しむことができました。
お客さんは、ほぼ外国人でガイドさんは日本語と流暢な英語で案内してくれました。両方なので2倍になり、ずっと話をしていました。大変だなあと思いつつ笑いを誘う楽しい語り口は神技だなあと思いました。気遣いも凄く良かったです。
帰りは大雪と集合時間に間に合わなかった人もいて高山に着くのが少し遅れましたが、下呂に行く特急に予定通り乗れました。
豪雪の合掌造りの村はイメージ通りで、すごく寒かったけど、イメージ通りの真冬の合掌造りの村を体験でき、濃飛バスのプロの案内で楽しさ倍増でした。
このツアーは楽しいのでオススメです

We were blessed with great weather, a wonderful guide, and a safe driver, and we finally visited the snowy Shirakawa-go, which we had always wanted to see! I made a reservation on the start date and had been looking forward to it. The explanations from the real flight attendants were great; they answered many of our questions and kindly explained things to the children's simple inquiries, which made it very enjoyable! It was a really valuable experience to see the training in action. I felt a deeper appreciation for how many people are involved in getting an airplane in the air, and the return flight became a wonderful memory. I would love to participate again.

The Churaumi Aquarium was great, but the Nago Pineapple Park we visited before it was not as good as I expected. We didn't have time for lunch, and while it was suggested to get takeout on Kouri Island, there weren't many options available. The Churaumi Aquarium was also crowded, making it difficult to even grab a snack. I think it would be better to include a place for lunch in the itinerary without the Pineapple Park.
美ら海水族館は良かったが、その前に行った名護パイナップルパークが思っていたより良くなかった。
ランチをする時間とかもなく、古宇利島でテイクアウトするのもいいと言っていたが、テイクアウトできるものがあまりなかった。美ら海水族館も混んでいて軽食さえも難しい状態だった。
パイナップルパーク無しでランチできるところをコースに入れるといいと思った。

The guide's explanations were interesting and enjoyable, making for a quick yet content-rich day. I was worried about the restrooms, but there were plenty on the high-speed boat, at the port, and a few others, which was reassuring. We opted for a bus tour on Taketomi Island, and that was the right choice. Since we had to take an unfamiliar boat and there was a lot of moving around from the morning, it allowed us to enjoy without feeling rushed. If I have the chance again, I would like to take my time exploring each island.

I participated in the Shirakawa-go light-up tour, which usually takes place six times a year, but this year it was held only four times. Okinawa is a place where you can't get around for sightseeing without a car. Since we are a pair of seniors, we couldn't rent a car for sightseeing, so we participated in this tour. It was great that we could efficiently enjoy the sights. I didn't want to struggle with choosing a restaurant for dinner, so I opted for the dinner option. I was satisfied with the taste and quantity of the food, as well as the chef's performance.
沖縄は車がないと観光で回ることができない所です。シニアの2人連れですので、レンタカーを借りての観光ができず、このツアーに参加しました。
効率良く観光することができて良かったてす。何を食べようかとお店選びに迷うのが嫌だったので、夕食付きにしました。料理の味と量、コックさんのパフォーマンスに満足できました。。

It was a tour to see the Shirakawa-go light-up. This plan did not include tickets for the observation deck at night, but since we made it to the observation deck during the daytime, it was not a problem. It seems that as long as you arrive during the daytime, you can go.
Personally, I appreciated the bus transportation and the meal, but I also enjoyed the introduction from the guide about the scattered villages of the Tonami Plain, the lotus root fields of Kaga vegetables, and the fairy tale village along the way from Kanazawa City to Shirakawa-go.
The meal was just the right amount.
Since the Shirakawa-go light-up is limited to those who have made reservations and the dining options are also limited, I personally recommend this tour!
白川郷ライトアップに行けるツアーでした。
こちらのプランは夜間の展望台チケットはなかったですが、昼間の時間内に展望台に間に合ったので問題ありませんでした。昼の時間に間に合えば行けるようです20250202時点。
個人的には、バス送迎、ご飯の他にも、金沢市から白川郷への道すがら、ガイドさんから砺波平野の散居村や加賀野菜のれんこん畑、メルヘンの村など富山石川岐阜の紹介があったのがよかったです。
食事もちょうど良い量でした^ - ^
白川郷のライトアップは予約者限定かつご飯の場所も限られているため、こちらのツアーが個人的にはおすすめです！
I recommend wearing ski resort-like attire since it gets cold in winter. It was reassuring to have a flashlight as suggested by the tour. Since it's slippery, I think snow boots would be a good choice
冬は寒いのでスキー場のような格好をおススメします。
ツアーが勧めるとおり懐中電灯があると安心でした。
滑りやすいのでスノーブーツがよいかなと思います。展望台へは結構急な坂道です。

I'm glad I was able to see the illuminated Shirakawa-go, which I've always wanted to visit. The scenery, especially around the three houses, was charming and I could have watched it forever. The tour guide also provided helpful advice on how to enjoy the area, making for a great experience. Next time, I’d like to see Shirakawa-go in the summer without worrying about time.
Although it’s unrelated to the tour, I was concerned about the manners of inbound tourists, and I felt a bit sorry for the local residents. I feel that if measures like separate pricing are not implemented, this beautiful scenery may disappear...

It was very enjoyable to be able to visit the main tourist attractions by bus. I think it was a great deal since it included souvenirs and admission to the aquarium! There were times when I felt there wasn't enough time, but I was satisfied because we could go to various places.
However, there were many foreign tourists, and some people were late for the bus meeting time. We ended up waiting for those who were late, which pushed our total time back by about 30 minutes, so that was disappointing. I think it depends on luck, but it can be a bit frustrating, so it might not be suitable for those who are particular about time management.
Aside from that point, everything was very good.

It was great to efficiently visit attractions like the Churaumi Aquarium by sightseeing bus. The tour was mostly with foreigners (many from China and South Korea), but I had a fun time sightseeing. Next time, I would like to join a different tour as a solo participant again. Being able to get on and off right in front of my hotel (Orion Hotel Naha) was also a plus.

This was primarily a bus tour in Chinese. Aside from us and another group of Japanese tourists, most of the participants were from Chinese-speaking regions, but it was not a problem. Our guide, Mr. Zhang, provided explanations in Japanese very politely.
One particularly impressive site was the Kamishikimi Kumanoza Shrine, which is said to have a landscape like an "entrance to another world." After passing through the shrine and climbing further up the slope, we enjoyed a solemn view at a wind hole.
When I visited before, I had to give up on Aso Nakadake because it was off-limits, but this time we were able to visit it somehow. It was lucky that we boarded the bus just before it was closed due to volcanic gas.

At the Churaumi Aquarium, I was overwhelmed by the grandeur of the whale sharks and felt relaxed by the dolphins and sea turtles outside the building. It was great that we could smoothly access places that would be difficult to visit individually by bus.

Since there were many people, we opted for a chartered taxi instead of a tour bus. The driver was very kind and introduced us to various things. Although we ended up waiting longer than expected at the lunch restaurant, we were really grateful that they extended the plan time for free.
Regarding the plan itself, the time spent exploring Shirakawa-go was about an hour, excluding lunch, and honestly, I think that was a bit short. On the day, we could only visit a small part of the area, and it was disappointing that we couldn't go to the observation deck. If you want to take your time to explore and take photos, it might be better to skip lunch and use that time for sightseeing.
In the afternoon, we went to Suganuma in Gokayama. Compared to Shirakawa-go, there were hardly any people. For those who are not fond of crowds or want to play in the snow, I would recommend this place. But overall, it was a very enjoyable day and made for great memories. Thank you very much.

The tour guide was also a Chinese person who had been in Japan for two years. I considered several bus tours that visit Churaumi Aquarium and Pineapple Park, and I chose this one. The deciding factors were that the cost of the self-driving cart at Pineapple Park was included, and with fewer bus stops, we could return to Naha more quickly. This is my fifth time in Okinawa, but I had never been to the northern part, so I joined this tour. As usual, most participants were foreigners, but this tour provided earphone guides and pamphlets tailored to each participant's language at the beginning. During the tour, when the guide signaled "Please turn on your earphone guide," the next sightseeing explanation was provided in each participant's language through the earphone guide.
There are tours where explanations are mainly in Chinese, leaving Japanese participants behind, so I thought this was fair and well thought out.
There were about 15 participants, but they arranged a large bus, allowing us to enjoy the sightseeing comfortably.

中国語での説明が主で日本人参加者は放置のツアーもあるので(^^;(^^;
これは公平で工夫されていていいなと思いました。
１５人ぐらいの参加者でしたが大型のバスを手配してくれてゆったり観光することが出来ました。

The Ocean Expo Park was especially wonderful! The Tropical Tropical Center had many large greenhouses filled with tropical plants! I didn't go into the aquarium, but I was able to see the sea turtle pool and manatees outside. At Manza Beach, the wind was strong, and my sunglasses even flew away, but it was very beautiful. The American Village had authentic tacos that were great. I was able to see a lot in one day, and it wasn't too hectic, so I was very satisfied.

I've been to Okinawa three or four times, but this is my first time visiting after the New Year and all the way to the northern tip. I had only ever toured the beaches and Shuri Castle, but this time it was a very interesting and enjoyable trip as we were able to experience history and nature that we didn't know about. Since we didn't have a driver, we joined a one-day tour, which was a great deal and packed with highlights. The guide's explanations were professional and fun, and the fish for lunch was very delicious. I was very satisfied!
沖縄には３、４回来ていますがお正月明け、それに北端まで来たのは初めて。
ビーチや首里城しか観光したことがなかったのですが今回は私たちにとって知らなかった歴史や自然に触れられてとても興味深く楽しい旅でした。ドライバーがいないので1日ツアーに参加し、見どころ満載のお得で充実したツアーでした。ガイドさんの説明もプロで楽しく、ランチのお魚もとても美味でした。大満足！
