It was a wonderful place with beautiful greenery, the sound of the river, the chirping of insects, and the quiet sound of a flute. The staff at the shop suggested that I eat the grilled sweetfish starting from the head. I was a bit skeptical about that.

To my surprise, I didn't feel any bones at all; it was crispy and fragrant, and the flesh was tender. When I shared my thoughts with the staff, they explained that the reason you can eat it from the head is due to the size of the sweetfish and the fact that it is grilled slowly over charcoal. I was convinced. It was the most delicious grilled sweetfish I've ever had. After the meal, I strolled around while chatting with my friends, dipping my feet in the cold river water. It became a fun and delicious memory. Thank you!

お店の方が、鮎の塩焼きを、どうぞ頭から召し上がって下さいと言われました。頭からとは、と半信半疑でした。
食べてびっくり、全く骨を感じず、パリパリと香ばしく身はふっくら、お店の方に感想をお話すると、頭から食べられるのは、鮎の大きさと、炭火でじっくり焼いているからです。と教えてくださり、納得でした。今までで、一番美味しかった鮎の塩焼きでした。食後は、友人たちとおしゃべりしながら、散策。冷たい川の水に足を浸したり。楽しく、美味しい思い出になりました。ありがとうございました!

I participated alone, but I didn't have any particular difficulties. However, I think it was partly because it was during summer vacation, as there were families with small children and groups of university students around, which made it a bit lively. I also added a tea ceremony experience, and I enjoyed it with various supplementary explanations.

1人で参加しましたが、特に困ることもありませんでした。ただ、時期が夏休みということも重なるからだと思いますが、周りが小さいお子さんの家族連れだったり、大学生のグループなど少々賑やかな感じではありました。
私はお点前体験もセットでつけたのですが、色々な補足説明もあり楽しめました。

I experienced this with three children and one adult accompanying them.

The instructions were clear and easy to understand, allowing the children to enjoy making things.

Both the wagashi (Japanese sweets) and matcha were delicious!

They also explained the tools and taught us in a quiz format, which kept the children engaged.

I learned a lot about Japanese culture, and it was a fun experience that felt very worthwhile.

I would like to visit again.

丁寧にわかりやすく指導してくださり、子どもでも楽しく作ることができていました。

日本文化について、ヘェ〜と言う学びもたくさんあり、楽しい体験もできてお値打ちだなと感じました。

My relatives from abroad came to Japan. Since it was their first time in Kyoto, I wanted to create a special memory, so I made a reservation. My child and I had just traveled to Kyoto five months ago, so I thought it would be nice to experience something we wouldn't normally do on a typical trip. Since it was summer, we opted for a riverside dinner. I had always wanted to go to a riverside dining experience in Kyoto during the summer. I planned it as a surprise for my relatives without explaining the details of the dinner, as it was also a day when they could meet a maiko.

The sukiyaki we chose was very generous in portion. The meat was tender and delicious. The riverside was cool, and the sound of insects was refreshing. The lanterns reflected beautifully on the river surface, adding to the ambiance. The charming maiko greeted us with a smile, and we were able to take many photos. The staff were also quick to take pictures for us and were very accommodating with refills of tea and other requests. The bus driver was also very friendly. My foreign relatives and my child loved it, and it was a great decision. Being able to see the maiko's dance up close created wonderful memories. I would love to go again!

海外からの親戚が来日。初めての京都ということで、何か特別な思い出になれば、と申し込みました。同行する私と子供は５ヶ月前に京都旅行をしたばかり。。私たちにとっても普通の京都旅行では経験しないことを、と思い、夏ということもあり、川床の夕食にしました。夏に京都に行くなら川床にいきたい、と常々おもっていました。舞妓さんにも会える日程ということで、親戚にはどんな夕食か詳しく説明せず、サプライズにしました。
選んだすき焼きはボリュームたっぷり。お肉も柔らかく美味しい。川床も涼しく、虫の声が涼しげ。川面に写る提灯も情緒たっぷり。そして可愛らしい舞妓さんがにこやかに応対してくれ、写真もたくさんとらせていただきました。スタッフのかたも写真を撮ってくれたり、お茶などのおかわりも、すぐ快く対応してくれました。バスの運転手さんもとても愛想のいいかたでした。外国人の親戚にも、子供にも大好評で、大正解でした。舞妓さんの踊りを間近で見ることができ、素敵な思い出になりました。またぜひ行きたいです！

I wonder how it is in this intense heat with temperatures exceeding 35 degrees for several days. Contrary to my worries, the riverside was very cool with a nice breeze. I'm not a fan of river fish, but I ate the grilled young sweetfish whole, starting from the head. The skin was delicious, and I didn't mind the bones at all. Enjoying a beer while listening to the sound of the river was delightful. It's definitely summer in Japan from the afternoon.

I used a shuttle for the outbound trip. For the return, I took the city bus for 230 yen (though it takes some time). I was disappointed that I didn't realize how convenient the bus was, as I didn't have a sense of the distance between the city and Takao. I would have appreciated it if there had been some information about that somewhere.

I also visited the "Bird and Beast Caricatures" (it's 1000 yen per person), and I was able to spend time leisurely without encountering many overseas visitors.

連日35度越えの猛暑の中どうなんだろう。
そんな心配をよそに川床は、風が抜けて非常に涼しく過ごさせていただきました。　
川魚は苦手ですが稚鮎の塩焼きは頭から食べました。皮目が美味く骨も気にならず美味しくいただきました。川の音を聞きながらビールをゴクリ。
昼から日本の夏ですね。
往路は送迎を利用しました。復路は230円の市バスを利用(時間かかりますけど)。市内と高雄までの距離感がわからずバスが便利なことが判らず残念。どこかに記述いただけたら嬉しかったです。
鳥獣戯画も見学して(お一人様1000円ですけど)
海外の方ともほぼ合わずゆっくりと過ごさせていただきました。

We participated with two children aged 7 and 9, and one adult, but it was too difficult for one child to manage alone, so I had to stay close to the younger one. The older child couldn't get much support and ended up crying because they didn't understand how to make it, so I think one adult should accompany each child.

The wagashi we made ourselves was very delicious, and even the children, who usually don't eat red bean paste, said it was tasty and enjoyed it. I definitely want to experience this again.

7歳・9歳の子供2人と大人1人で参加しましが、子供一人で作るには難易度が高く、下の子に付きっきりになってしまいました。上の子は殆どフォロー出来ず、作り方が分からなくなり泣いてしまったので子供1人につき大人1人の付き添いが必要だと思います。
自分で作った和菓子はとても美味しく、普段餡子を食べない子供達も美味しいと言って食べていました。
ぜひまた体験したいと思います。

It was fun. I enjoyed how the way of adding color gradually changed while kneading. We went as a group of five, and even though we made the same thing, everyone ended up with different nerikiri. It was great!

面白かったです。色の付け方もこねこねしながらだんだん変わっていくのが楽しかったです。5人で行きましたが同じものを作っててもそれぞれ皆んな違う練り切りができました笑笑よかったです

I didn't expect to experience this with so many people at once, so I was a bit confused. I participated with a group of school trip students, but one person was feeling unwell and seemed to be having a hard time in the restroom. Given the situation, I found it hard to concentrate and it felt a bit awkward. When I was younger, I might have left feeling uncomfortable. However, as I've gotten older, I found myself more aware of the difficulties around me and concerned about the students as time passed. Since I was also supposed to enjoy some matcha on the way back, by that time, I was able to calm down and participate with focus, which made it enjoyable.

たくさんの人と一斉に体験すると思っていなかったので、少し戸惑っていました。
修学旅行生の子供たちと一緒に体験しましたが、1人体調の悪い方がいてトイレで吐いて大変そうでした。そんな中での体験でしたので、なんだか集中できないし、微妙な感じでした。若い時なら、イヤな感じで帰ってたかもしれません。ですが、年齢も重ねると周りの大変な様子や、学生さんの心配などをしながら時間が過ぎていきました。
抹茶もいただいて帰ることになっていたので、その頃には落ち着いて集中して参加することができて楽しかったです。

The weather was cloudy, but amidst the greenery and the flow of the river, the staff kept their distance, allowing us to enjoy a leisurely time together. Also, I was surprised at how affordable the alcoholic beverages were. Since I tend to enjoy a lot, I was really happy about that!

お天気は、曇りでしたが、緑と川の流れの中、女中さんも、距離をとっていてくれて、2人で、ゆっくりとした時間が取れました。後、アルコール類が、結構、お安くて、驚きました。沢山、頂く方なので、嬉しかったですねー。

I love Kyoto and have visited several times. I signed up for a wagashi (Japanese sweets) making experience because it was easy to apply, and it was so much fun. I participated with my daughter, and we laughed a lot while competing to see who could make the best sweets. There were many participants during Golden Week, and the staff seemed to have a tough time, but the teacher's explanations were clear, and I was impressed to learn how wagashi is made. I would love to participate again if I have the chance. Thank you very much!

京都大好きで何度か訪問してます。
手軽に申し込めたので和菓子作り体験に申込ましたが、とても楽しかったです。
娘と参加しましたが、競い合うように作業してたくさん笑いました。
ゴールデンウィークで参加人数も多く、事務局の方々は大変そうでしたが、先生の説明は分かりやすく、和菓子ってこんな感じで作ってるんやなあと感動でした。
また機会があれば参加したいです。

We had an experience making two types of wagashi and a matcha tea experience. My fourth-grade daughter joined us, and we were treated with great care, making it enjoyable for both of us. Thank you very much.

和菓子を二つ作る体験と、お抹茶体験をしました。小4の娘も一緒でしたが、丁寧に対応していただき、親子ともにとても楽しめました。ありがとうございました。

I have three suggestions for improvement. 1. Slow down the pace. (Some people are having trouble keeping up.) 2. Make the venue larger. (It's too crowded.) 3. Ensure a waiting area. (It's cold outside.)
I think it would be better to hold the event in a larger space with more distance between attendees, even if it means raising the price.

改善希望が3つあります。1.進行をゆっくりと。（ついていけてない方もいる）2.会場を広く。（密になっている）3.待ち場所の確保。（外は寒い）
値段を上げても良いから、もう少し広い場所で間隔を取りながら開催した方が良いと思いました。

I applied for this plan to avoid the crowds. The plan with transportation was very helpful. We were blessed with good weather, and both the scenery and the food exceeded our expectations! The blue and red leaves were beautiful, and I was able to enjoy the long-awaited riverbed cuisine.

送迎ありの企画は、とても助かります。

On my first trip to Yakushima, I found out about the Jomon Sugi tour while making a reservation with VELTRA, and I was curious, so I also made a reservation with Katagiri. The interior was very clean and had a great atmosphere. When I arrived and said my name, they guided me right away! Both the appetizer and the hitsumabushi were incredibly delicious ☺︎ The bonito dashi was the best! The pasta and other menu items also looked delicious, and I was very interested in them! I definitely want to visit again when I go back to Yakushima (*^▽^*) Thank you very much ♡

初の屋久島旅行、でベルトラさんで縄文杉ツアーを予約した際に知り、気になったのでかたぎりさんも予約させてもらいました。

I had a great time experiencing something I normally wouldn't be able to do. However, it seemed like the allotted time was short, and if I took my time, I felt like I was being left behind. I think if there were a bit more time, I could have created things more carefully. The staff were very kind, and I had a good experience. Thank you.

普段出来ないような体験ができて楽しかったです。
ただ設定時間が短いのか、ゆっくり作っていると置いてきぼりになってしまいました。もう少し時間に余裕があれば、丁寧に作れそうだと感じました。

I made Japanese sweets shaped like plum blossoms and warblers.
It was fun to color the two types of fillings, white bean paste and black bean paste!
The warbler looked a bit like a penguin, but it was cute.

梅と鴬の和菓子を作りました。
白あんと黒あんの2種類を着色する行程から出来て楽しかったです！
鴬はペンギンぽかったけど可愛くでした。

The instructors were kind and taught us well, making it a fun and lively experience. The mini knowledge about tea was also interesting. It was a unique experience that I don't often get, and I had a great time.

インストラクターの方も親切に教えて下さり、ワイワイと楽しくできました。
お茶のミニ知識も興味深かったです。
なかなか体験する機会のない内容で、楽しい時間でした。

It might be difficult to identify the exterior since it's on the second floor of an ordinary building. I made two types of wagashi. It seems that the items change with the seasons (24 patterns a year). They also carefully explained the ingredients and materials. I joined a group, and each person created unique sweets, which was interesting. The anko (sweet red bean paste) seemed to be of good quality and was delicious. I was able to see the stone mill used to grind the tea leaves and learn about the process, which was educational.

普通のビルの2階なので、外観は分かりにくいかもしれません。
和菓子を２つ作りました。季節によって作るものが変わるそうです(年に24パターン)。素材や材料についても丁寧に教えていただきました。団体の方々と一緒になりましたが、それぞれ個性的なお菓子が出来上がっており、面白かったです。餡も良いものを使っているようで美味しかったです。
お抹茶は、茶葉を引く石臼や様子を実際に見ることができ、勉強になりました。

I was a bit surprised by the stark classroom-like setting with dozens of people. However, the instructors walked around the classroom, so I could ask questions right away, which was helpful. It might not be suitable for those who prefer a more homey learning environment.

My middle school daughter enjoyed the experience lesson of making wagashi and then preparing matcha afterward, as there were fewer participants and she could hear various stories.

何十人ものクラスで教室のような殺風景なお部屋で少々驚きました。ただ、講師の方々が教室内を回ってくださるので質問はすぐでき困ることはありませんでした。アットホームに習いたい人には向かないかもしれませんが。
中学生の娘は、和菓子作りの後のお抹茶をたてる体験レッスンが人数も少なくお話も色々聞けて楽しかったようです。

I was told that the private room on the second floor can be used if the cost is 6,600 yen or more per person, so I made a change. It had quite a luxurious feel.

2階の個室は1人6600円以上ならば使って良いと言われ、変更しました。
かなりセレブ感がありました。

The venue was a small, old building room. You take off your shoes to enter, and the experience involves working and listening at a long table with folding chairs. They used carefully selected high-quality ingredients and specialized tools. The instructors and assistants were young and pleasant women. The event was designed to minimize extravagance and unnecessary costs while ensuring that essential aspects were thoroughly considered, which received positive feedback from my companions.
(COVID-19 measures were also well implemented.)

会場は小さな古びたビルの一室。靴を脱いで入室し、長テーブルとパイプ椅子での作業及び聴講体験。こだわりの良質な食材と、専用道具を使用。講師、補助者は若く感じの良い女性達だった。派手さと無駄を省きコストを抑えた、でも、必要な箇所は惜しみなく配慮が行き届いた企画で、同行者からも好評だった。
（コロナ対策もしっかりされていた）

There were three adults participating (in their 50s and 60s), and we had a great time. Although we couldn't do it as well as the samples, we had a fun and entertaining experience that really got us excited.

大人3人（50代、60代）の参加でしたが、楽しかったです。
見本ほど上手く出来ませんでしたが、面白可笑しく体験出来て盛り上がりました。

I participated with my family on New Year's Day. The explanations were very thorough. Handling the red bean paste was a bit challenging, but it was a lot of fun. I would like to participate again if I have the opportunity. Thank you very much.

I had an experience making traditional Japanese sweets and preparing matcha. It was more difficult than I expected, but I had a great time laughing with my girlfriend. Those who think they are skilled might find it interesting to give it a try.
The venue is a small room in an ordinary mixed-use building, with just tables and chairs. The facilities are neither good nor bad. While it’s not stylish, I think it’s reasonable considering the price.

和菓子の形を作る体験と抹茶をたてる体験をしました。思っていたより難しく、一緒に行った彼女と大笑いしながら楽しめました。自分が器用だと思っているひとほど試しに体験してみるとおもしろいかもしれません。
会場は普通の雑居ビルの広くはない一室でテーブルとイスのみが並んでいるところでやりますが可もなく不可もなくな設備。オシャレさはありませんが、料金を思えば悪くないと思います。

It was my first experience, but I was taught carefully and was able to make delicious Japanese sweets! When I told my friends, they said they definitely want to try it next time, so I would like to participate.

I live in Kyoto, so I didn't visit for sightseeing, but I love wagashi (Japanese sweets), so I made a reservation with a friend and went.

It was more difficult than I expected, but the instructor was kind and taught us patiently, so I was able to finish without giving up.

It was so much fun that I want to go back and experience it again every month!
