I was amazed to see sea turtles and a variety of tropical fish just a short distance from the beach (though I don't have any photos...). The area is relatively shallow, so the fish are quite close, making it feel like you're swimming in a large aquarium. It's a tour that you can easily enjoy right by the beach without having to venture out into the open ocean.

However, there weren't any photos of the many beautiful fish in the data I received, so I wish they had taken pictures of other fish besides just the sea turtles and clownfish. That way, I could have shared the beauty of this beach with my friends.

The canoeing in the afternoon was perfect for leisurely enjoying the sparkling water and the beautiful Miyako Blue. If you want to enjoy the scenery, I personally recommend canoeing over stand-up paddleboarding, as it allows you to explore further.

昼からのカヌーは、キラキラ輝く水面、宮古ブルーをのんびり楽しむには最適。景色を楽しみたい方は、サップよりぐるっと遠くまで探検できるカヌーが個人的にはおすすめです。

I went to Iriomote Island for the first time and booked a tour to Yubu Island by kayak and water buffalo. In the morning, I experienced kayaking and explored the mangrove forest for about an hour. I really felt the beauty of nature. The staff were very kind and explained everything well, making it a lot of fun! After that, we took a lunch break and then headed to Yubu Island by water buffalo cart! It took about 10 minutes to reach the island, and we enjoyed about an hour on Yubu Island! The gelato from a shop called Yubu Island Chaya was incredibly delicious! I highly recommend the island banana flavor.

I visited Iriomote Island for the first time. The kayaking experience surrounded by the magnificent mangrove nature was unforgettable, and the air was so fresh. The companions I experienced it with and the instructor were very warm, and it was truly enjoyable!!! After kayaking, I had goya champuru at Gen Shokudo. It was very soothing for my tired body. The water buffaloes were so cute and provided a relaxing time. It's only about a 50-minute trip from Ishigaki Island, so I highly recommend it!

I knew that snorkeling might be difficult at this time of year, so I decided to stick with the canoe and Yubu Island (the plan including Yubu Island was a bit cheaper).

During the contact the day before, I was told that due to bad weather, we wouldn't be able to land on Barasu Island, which made me feel disappointed and I thought our plans might fall through. However, they provided an alternative plan, and I was able to enjoy the day without any issues!

We started with a tour of Yufu Island. We were picked up by bus from the port, and the staff smoothly guided us to the water buffalo cart, allowing us to board quickly. We walked around the island, and even after taking our time to go all the way around, we had plenty of time to spare.

After returning to the port for lunch, I noticed that not many shops were open, and before I knew it, everyone ended up at the same place, which was quite funny! We had enough time to enjoy our lunch.

In the afternoon, the canoeing was enjoyable and not difficult at all, even for beginners and women. However, it might be a bit lacking for those who prefer a more intense experience. Along the way, we were taken to a small waterfall-like spot where we could take photos. They also captured moments of us paddling and the scenery, which they later sent to us, making for a nice keepsake that I was really happy about.

Thank you very much! I would love to participate again! Next time, I want to visit Barasu Island.

途中歩いてちょっとした滝みたいなところにも連れて行ってもらい、写真も撮影していただきました。
漕いでるところや風景も撮影してもらえ、後ほど送ってくださり、記念にもなり嬉しかったです。

I was hoping to see the coconut crab, but unfortunately, I didn't get to see one on the day I participated (´-ω-｀). I signed up thinking I would definitely encounter a coconut crab, but it seems that in winter, their activity is low, and the chance of encountering one is about 50%. Before we set off, I was told that there probably wouldn't be any coconut crabs, and I felt a bit scammed. If I had known, I wouldn't have signed up, crying. (The guide was not at fault.)

Instead, I was able to meet some insects and creatures that I had seen on TV, so that was nice! Since coconut crabs are hard to find, the guide worked hard to search through the forest. On the day I participated, it was cloudy, so I couldn't see many stars, but I think on a clear day, they would be quite beautiful from the beach◎. Because it was January and the temperature was low, it felt more like a tour of walking through the jungle rather than encountering a lot of creatures! On the other hand, I felt that there was a slight disconnect from the purpose of observing creatures that are unique to the night. There was no explanation about the animals highlighted in the tour, such as the coconut crab, and we didn't get to hear much in-depth information about animals or insects.

Since we are dealing with nature, I don't have any complaints about not encountering certain creatures. I also understand that different guides have different areas of expertise, which can lead to hearing unexpected stories, and I don't deny that. However, since the tour takes place at night, I think it would have been more satisfying if there had been explanations about why we are searching at night and what kinds of animals we can encounter specifically because it is nighttime.

Overall, I believe that participating in the tour and being able to enter the jungle at night was valuable, but the content was plant-focused, and it was hard to understand the "benefits of participating specifically because it is night."

I thought snorkeling would involve going by boat to a beautiful spot, but as expected in Miyako Island, I was able to see incredibly beautiful waters even while swimming out from the shore. I was able to take many photos of the stunning sea, which became wonderful memories. I also got a lot of pictures of myself and the marine life. I was worried it might be cold in January, but experiencing the clarity of the water from within was a fantastic experience, and I'm glad I did it. It was chilly before and after entering the water, but they provided warm water for us. I was also grateful that they shared the photos the next day. Luckily, I encountered a sea turtle and got some great pictures, which made me very satisfied. I would definitely like to request this again when I visit Miyako Island.

ガイドさんの指示に従い、ウェットスーツを着ていざ海に入ったところ、最初は冷たく感じましたが徐々に慣れてきて、素敵な珊瑚礁や小魚の群れを見つけることができました。
途中、イラブチャーというお魚も見つけ、ガイドさん曰く美味しく食べられるとのこと。そちらがいただけるおすすめのお店も紹介してもらえたりと、とても気さくに話してくださったことも印象に残っております。

The weather was also great that day, with gentle winds, making it the perfect outing.

After lunch, we took a water buffalo cart to Yufu Island. The guide on the water buffalo cart shared that after a natural disaster made the area uninhabitable, an elderly man planted the vegetation that became the foundation of the current botanical garden. It was surprising to see so many flowers blooming in January, and I was lucky enough to capture a photo of a butterfly that came to sip nectar.

During the ride to and from Yufu Island, in addition to explanations about the water buffalo, we were treated to songs played on the sanshin, which made for some wonderful memories. Macchan took care of us during the bus rides, canoeing, and the trip to Yufu Island. 行き帰りの水牛車では、水牛の説明の他、三線で歌を披露していただいたり、とても良い思い出となりました。
バスの移動時の運転から、カヌー引率、由布島までの移動等、まっちゃんにはお世話になりました。
また、バスでガイドをしてくれたショウゴさんや、準備をしてくださった方々、水牛車ガイド方々にもお世話になりました。

The instructor (Macchan) was very knowledgeable and taught us a lot about animals and plants. Not only during the canoeing time but also on the bus, we had great conversations, making for a very enjoyable experience!

We took many photos together, and at the end, they sent them to us. Since it's often hard to get pictures of both of us together when there are just two participants, I was really happy to receive them!

It seems there are other experiences available as well, so I definitely want to participate again next time!
