My granddaughters and I went for the trail ride in November 2011 and were more excited about this activity than any other we were doing. We were told to be there 1/2 hour early and we were, but we had to wait, not only for other people, but for the instructors who said it was just because they were laid back. We then had to go through 1/2 hour of lecturing about the horses being athletes and spooked very easily and exactly how to do and not do EVERYTHING - from how to hold your hands almost to how to breath so you didn't spook these magnificent animals. We were not allowed to take cameras because the click of the camera may spook them and we were never offered the opportunity for anyone to take photos of us riding anywhere - especially on the beach. The unpleasant female who did all these instructions never came out of her funk. This trip is worth every penny if you haven't experienced something like this before, or even for another visit. They said we were guarranteed seeing some sharks and they didn't disappoint. On my trip we saw about 15 - 20 circling the cage.
Shuttle bus picked me up from the hotel on time and we were taken to the harbour in the north. Boat ride out to the cage was about 3 miles (20 mins or so) and then the passengers were split into 3 groups of 8, each group having 20 mins in the water surrounded by 10ft sharks. Great!! No need to be nervous, you're totally safe in the cage.
The staff were friendly and ready to answer questions.
Would recommend one of the earlier trips, i went for the 9am one.
One final tip, take at least two underwater cameras as the shots are amazing!!!

The ride itself was very nice along the beach area. I was a first time rider and the staff work with me providing instructions on controlling the horse, so don't be afraid to try this experience if you have never rode a horse.
The only difficulty is that we were staying in Waikiki and the event took place on the North Shore. There is no transportation options offered by the event, but we rented a car for the day and were able to tour more of the island following the ride.
Overall, I highly recommend this activity.

The place was about an hour away from Honolulu but that wasn't problem. The website said to be there 30 min early and we were but the horse handlers said that wasn't neccessary. They were short handed and we ended up waiting more than an hour to ride but the place was majestic so we weren't bothered by the wait. The guides prepared us and were concerned about everyones safety. The ride was perfect. They guides were professional and took time to take our pictures while we were on the beach. I would do it again and would recommend it to anyone visiting Hawaii.. It was a great family experience.

My family and I enjoy horseback riding but this one was not up to par. I booked a private lesson and was told we would be able to do more with the horses beside just walking them and also would not be a nose to tail ride but that's exactly what it was. We were told many things but none were true. A couple of the horses did not like having another horse so close to it's tail so they would constantly kick backwards. You're only on the beach for a short time to cross to the dusty path were you spend most of the time until you cross back over the beach to go back to the club. Our guide was also an unpleasant women who never spoke unless it was to tell us what we were doing wrong. It was definetely not worth the money we spent and would not go back.

I choose this horsebackriding venue because of the website which stated they are not your typical trail ride. According to the ad we would not be riding nose to tail - that's exactly what we had to do--- also the ad stated we would be free to ride the horses to our ability-absolutely not, we were not allowed out of the line or to go faster than a walk or to go ahead of the guide-who was a most unpleasant woman. Also the beach part of the ride was very limited. The only high marks I give are to the horses!! They were not your typical trail horses. Overall I was disappointed, especially considering the high cost.

夫婦で参加しました。
妻は当初参加に不安でしたが、檻に入ってみると鮫はきれいで、鮫は人を襲わない安全な種類と分かったので、珍しい体験を楽しんでいました。
鮫は小魚が近くを泳いでいても食べる気配なしで、迫力という点では、ちょっと物足りないかも。
夫婦二人とも次はホオジロザメのような危ない鮫を見たいねと話していました。
使い捨ての水中カメラを買っていきましたが、波で揺れて写真を撮るのが難しかったです。
デジカメで画面を見ながら大量に撮れるように、防水ケースを買えばよかったなと思いました。

波が高かったのもあり、酔い止め薬は飲んでおいたほうが無難です。船でゆらゆら、体験中も波にゆらゆらでした。
サメを見たときは、わかっていても驚いて怖かったです。
日本人には日本語の説明文を渡してくれました。
船スタッフに、日本語を十分に使える方がいなかったので、初歩程度の意思表示する英会話が必要です。

The worst thing about the trip was I had to go home. I did the 7 am tour and the staff was great. The boat was nice and clean everything was way above board. I bought the video and I watched as soon as I got back home on the mainland and I still cant believe the beautiful sharks and how many of them were in the waters it was not what I expected but thankful. If you are reading my post you better do this.. One of the best tours I went on while I was in Hawaii...My last comment I cant wait to do it again someday..

My new husband and I booked a private ride with the Hawaii Polo Club while on our honeymoon. I've been on several other guided horseback trail rides in the past, but this was a little different. For one thing, the horses are actually polo-horses, not the standard "follow-the-leader" horses of a typical ranch. Because of this, you are better off if you have at least a little experience in handling horses. There were a few times that loud noises or unfamiliar things on the path caused some skittishness.
One thing that made me a little uncomfortable was that my activity voucher said we would need to sign a liability waiver before the ride. I assume this is a standard practice, but the staff at the club just saddled up our horses, and off we went. No forms, no waivers, they didnt even tell us their names, nor did they ask ours. 私達は、現地集合にしてバスで行きました。
ホテルから、アラモアナセンターまで行き、乗り換えて52番のバスに乗り、一応運転手に”ハレイワ・スモールボートハーバー”と伝えて降りる場所を教えてももらって無事集合時間ギリギリに到着しました。
アラモアナセンターからバス来るまで結構待ちました。
私達以外の日本人は1組だけで、他は皆船は外国人で国際豊かでした。
アランネットで見たとおり、注意事項など日本語で書かれたファイルを渡されるくらいで説明は全部英語でしたが、ジェスチャーで海への入り方を説明されるので、見てればなんとかなります。
沖まで10分~15分位まで移動し、波も中々の揺れで、乗り物に弱い私は酔い止め飲んでも結構酔いました。
檻の中には4人づつ入りました。
楽しみにしていたので、具合悪い中でも念願のサメに会えると張り切って人より長く海にもぐってましたが、何匹か小魚は近くにいたものの、残念ながらサメはかなり深く遠くの下の方に小さく子サメ？が通り過ぎただけでほとんど見れず、ステッカーをもらって返金になりました・・・
でもスタッフの方々はとてもいい人たちだったので、また次回、絶対挑戦しようと思ってます。
帰りはハレイワを散策してから帰りました。

This was an awesome ride on the beach. And YES you DO ride on the beach. The area is beautiful and could see the whales playing in the ocean as we rode. The white sands of the beaches against the turquoise water was breathtaking.
I took the private ride and it is definitely not a standard trail ride. The polo horses were very well behaved and easy to ride. I recommend this to anyone who loves horses and has always wanted to ride on the beach in Hawaii.
Would definitely book this again when back on the island.

Awesome experience! Nothing like it. Plenty of parking and in an awesome area, Haleiwa. The ride out to the cage was not long, before a short safety brief. Once in the cage, it's a unique feeling to know one of the oceans apex predetors are swimming around you. They get pretty close, and is well worth price of the tour. A definite must do if visiting the island!

本場ノースショアでサーフィンレッスン byハレイワタウン サーフ・アンド・シー
めっちゃ面白い

が、波乗り初体験18歳倅の感想です。本場ノースショアでなるべく中身の濃いレッスンを、と思いプライベートレッスンを選んだのが良かったかもしれません。波に乗って板の上でクロスステップ（技の名前あると思うのですがよくわかりません）もできたらしくて、インストラクターから筋が良いと褒められました。ワイキキからの往復にはThe Bus利用でチープに。レッスン終了後はハレイワでランチのあとドールプランテーションに寄り道して帰りました。主催のサーフショップ SUEF N SEA <http://www.surfnsea.com/> にはセンスの良いTシャツなどいろいろあってお土産ショッピングも楽しめます。今回は金曜日で断念しましたが、次回は土曜か日曜にして名物フリフリチキンにもチャレンジしたいと思います。

ハワイポロライドで素晴らしい時間を過ごしました！以前、別の商業ランチで馬に乗ったことがあるので、あまり期待していませんでした。通常、馬はかなり疲れていて退屈なことが多いのですが、今回は全く違いました。ハワイポロクラブの馬はすべて、よく訓練されたプロのポロ馬で、若くて強く、筋肉質で、すぐにでもトロットできる状態です。見た目も本当に美しいです！
アルゼンチン出身のガイドもプロのポロ選手/トレーナーで、馬について詳しく知っていました。（アルゼンチンがポロの首都だとは知りませんでした！）彼は私たちに馬との接し方や注意点を説明してくれました。プロのポロ馬だったので最初は少し緊張しましたが、ガイドのおかげでリラックスでき、ノースショアの美しいビーチでの乗馬を楽しむことができました。

I had a great time at Hawaii Polo ride! I've been on a horse before at a different commercial ranch, so I wasn't expecting much. Usually the horses are pretty worn down, tired and boring. Oh boy, this wasn't the case at all. All the horses at Hawaii Polo Club are well trained professional polo horses, so they are young, strong, muscular and ready to trot. They are just gorgeous to look at!
Even the guide from Argentine was a professional polo player/trainer, so he knew all about the horses. (I didn't know that Argentine was the capital of polo!) He explained to us what to do and what not to do with the horse. I was a bit nervous first since the horse was a professional polo horse, and you know what they say about how the horse can feel your fear! But the guide made me feel relaxed, and I definitely enjoy the ride on the beautiful beach on North Shore.
This is highly recommended! Very romantic for couples for sure.

The Hi-light of our trip. The crew was AWESOME. They were very informative as well as entertaining. Even though we were in the ocean with a lot of sharks we still felt completely safe. This is the closest you can come face to face with nature w/o fearing for your life (well, almost - it is a little scary at first). The sharks are amazing animals. Can't put into words what its like to look a shark in the eye. You have to see it for yourself. We were in the cage for about 20-30 minutes, but it seemed like an hour and there was plenty of room. If you tend to get sea sick just take a pill and do it anyway. You won't regret it. Definately get the DVD, its about $65 and worth every penny. I'm pretty cheap myself, but knew I couldn't pass the DVD up. Totally worth it. Just DO IT and don't forget your underwater cameras.

停止した船から下を除くと黒い影が…
まさかすでに？と目を凝らして再度辺りを見渡すと１匹、２匹ではなく、１０匹くらいの鮫を海上から黙認。。。
怖いよりスゴイの感激でした。
よく背びれを海面に出す姿をTVなどで拝見していましたが、まさに同じ光景です。
いざ、おりの中へ！
真っ青な海と鮫に唖然でした。
レアな体験ができたと思います。少し高いですが、価値はありますよ。

We headed out to the shark cage at 7:30 am and sadly no sharks. The crew was as disappointed as we were and let us know that if we didn't have a shark experience they would reschedule us or refund our money. Lucky for us there was a cancellation on a boat later that morning - so we headed out again - and we were not disappointed. 5 - 6 sharks circled the cage the entire time we were on the water. Nothing like looking a shark in the eye! Fabulous time and would recommend it to anyone wanting to have an up close and personal experience with a shark(s).

17歳の息子一人でのレッスン参加でした。ノースショアまではレンタカーを借り、家族で向かいました。サーフィンは全くの初心者で、かつ英会話も苦手。心配でしたが、お店の日本人のスタッフがレッスンの流れを丁寧にご説明くださり、日本語のレッスン概要プリントもありましたので大丈夫でした。他40代の白人女性と2人でのレッスンでした。家族もレンタカーで近くのレッスン場所まで同行し、ばっちりビデオも撮ることができました。帰りはフリフリチキンやカフクシュリンプ、マツモトシェイブアイスを楽しみ、有意義な１日でした。レベルに合わせて教えてもらえるし、ノスタルジックな町並みも楽しめるので、是非レンタカーをご検討されているなら、オススメのツアーです。ワイキキでのレッスンと比べても、価格的にもお得だと思います。本場でレッスンを受けたことは一生の思い出になると思います☆

沖合に檻を沈めてそこにどぼん、、、最初は不安でしたがなせばなる！9月でしたが水温は若干低め。あと沖合で波が荒いので、参加する前にはあまりものを食べすぎない方がいいかも。酔ってはいた人2人／6人。
それでも得難い経験です。帰国後PCがクラッシュして、サメの写真が消えてしまいむせび泣きました。また参加したい。

This was the most fun we had on Oahu. Captain Dave and Crewman Chris are very professional, knowledgeable and entertaining. We felt safe in their capable hands...which was especially important, given the fact that this is an incredibly thrilling activity! Sooooo scary....being in the water, surrounded by numerous sharks of varying size (basically bigger than you, and much faster too!) certainly makes the adrenaline pump!
We bought the DVD of our experience, and we appreciate the fact that it is your choice to have your experience taped or not, and is therefore more personal and not 'pushed' at you for purchase. Just got home last night, and immediately watched it!
We recommend this activity to all but the faint of heart!

What an outstanding adventure! My wife and I had a great time. Captain JR and Chris created one of the best overall experiences we had in Hawai'i. They were funny, and knowledgeable about what we saw off the North Shore. Compared to other trips we took around O'ahu, they were the most reasonably priced as well. We're glad we bought the DVD to show how many sharks we saw, and the pictures impressed all our family... Highly recommended.
