My friend and I had a great time at the Okinawa Kenpo Karate Dojo. As beginners with little to no experience in karate, ... morewe found the sensei who facilitated the class to be very patient while teaching us the fundamentals of the art.

We booked the appointment a few weeks in advance through the Veltra website and were able to pay the fee ahead of time. You can rent a “gi” on site for 1,000 JPY in cash per set.

The location was also easy to find. We used Google Maps to locate the dojo, and it took us straight to the exact spot in Nago. If you go as a group, you should definitely carpool because the parking lot for the dojo is limited.

Make sure to be present & have fun. After our session they took pictures of us with different weapons and poses.

Overall, It was a beginner-friendly experience that we would recommend to people of all ages, regardless of their familiarity with karate. We were honored to be taught by Sensei Matsuda Tatsunori and to experience the beauty of traditional Okinawan karate.

Our guide was very kind and helpful, even though most people in the group did not speak Japanese. The forest is absolutely stunning! Highly recommended.
